Vehicle description
This is a nicely restored numbers matching 1971 340 Demon in EV2 Hemi Orange. All numbers match: Dash and door VIN plates, engine and transmission, fender tag. I have looked for the build sheet in the usual places and no luck. The car has rechromed bumpers, new carpet, seat covers and rebuilt dash and a new exhaust system. Engine was rebuilt less than 500 miles ago. This was the only year Demon with the Rallye dash and it includes the N85 factory tach (not listed on the build sheet). Everything works except the factory AM radio. It has manual steering and brakes. The car is undercoated and I have found no issues with the frame and bodywork. The paint is a 9 out of 10, several very small spots of orange peel that I think would color sand and buff out. Since I"ve owed the car I"ve replaced the alternator, stripped and repainted the valve covers, installed a new drivers side outside mirror, replaced the bench seat pivot covers, installed 4 brand new 215/70R14 tires, located and installed the correct spare tire cover and hold downs (spare tire is new), and had the exterior professionally buffed and polished. Clean Texas title in my name.
So for the purist, there are several items that are not original to the car. The original Thermoquad carb was at some point replaced with a Rochester Quadrajet with an electric choke. It has Petronix electronic ignition and as I stated earlier, the tach is factory correct but not on the fender tag.
Several items still need attention. The headliner has wrinkles, the clutch safety switch is not working (I have a good used one I purchased from Atlas Obsolete Motor Parts) and will be included in the sale. The other item that I am perplexed with is no seat belts. It has the original shoulder harnesses still in place, but that"s it. They are available thru several sources if the buyer wants to install them.
This is a very rare piece of history. Slightly more than 2000 71 340 Demon 4 speeds were built. I recently attended The Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle and the Demon was the marque nameplate this past year. There were 8 or so 71/71 Demons in one of the display buildings and I saw only one 4 speed and the owner had bought it new. Finding a numbers matching 71 340 was an amazing find for me, and if it was an automatic I"d keep it!
Car is located just south of Ft Worth Texas and is available for sale on several other sites so I reserve the right to end the auction early if the reserve is not met. Car is available for inspection and I encourage that. Demon is sold with no warranty stated or implied I"ve attempted to provide details on everything I know about the car. Buyer is responsible for shipping from zip 76044. 500 dollar deposit due within 48 hours. Balance due within 7 days. Bid to own this very rare Mopar. Only NOM once! I am available ti answer any and all questions on this Demon, from 9 AM to 8 PM CST. Or feel free to contact me via email at [email protected]
Thanks for looking!
