Vehicle description
Up for bid is my 1970 VW bay window. As you’ll see from thepictures and the video (see link below), the bus is in great shape for its age, starts right up and runs strong. The rear seat was taken out some time ago anda bed frame built in its place but it looks really nice. It does have the middleseat so you can carry passengers and still have plenty of cargo space in theback. You can drive it as is or put in a little more work and you can end upwith one very sweet ride. It only has approximately 1,680 miles on a rebuilt,1641 cc, dual-port engine which has recently had a tune-up and timing done. However,it has sat around some time since I bought it and push rod tube seals needreplacing to take care of some minor oil leaks. The sunroof opens and closescompletely but it does need a new seal which comes with the bus. It has stylingEmpi style allow wheels all around with plenty of thread left on the tires(including a full size spare). I bought it with the intention of restoring butI can’t work on it as much as I’d like due to limited time and weekends takenup with kid. I picked it up in Mississippi but the bus is originally fromCalifornia and maintenance has been kept up (I have all service records). It hasnever seen salted roads but as you’ll see from the pictures there is some ruston the floor right underneath the sun roof where the seal leaked at some point.Nothing that goes all the way through the pan but it does require a new plateto ensure all three seat stands are firmly bolted down. There is also a small rustbubble on the passenger door as you can see in the picture. Other than that, the body and pan are all solid including all jack points and drain channels.Nothing that can’t be fixed on a workhorse that is 50 years old! The bus deserves a good home and someone that can bring itback to its glory days or continue using as-is. Video Link: https:/ youtu.be/SeXVdU9gdcM Here is the work that has been done: Points, condenser and coil were all replaced and timing done, Has new CV joints, Replaced the fuel hose with OEM German hose, New battery, Electrical: Brake, turn signals, headlights, running lights, dash lightsand dome lights all work. The only lights that don’t are the back-up lights(work intermittently) and the rear passenger light which is included but itwill need to be wired up. Parts that will be included with the bus: Replacement light bulbs (turn signals, backup) License plate holders and hardware 1 rear tail light lens and frame Fuel filters Accelerator cable New sunroof seal from West Coast Metric Original Bilstein Jack Engine gasket kit Alternator belt
