Vehicle description
I AM NOT A DEALER…The best looking, most original 1970 Plymouth Road Runner for sale I can find anywhere under $125K. This car won several Awards and was featured in The Throttle Extreme Magazine in 2016 as a feature car. Some of its online pictures and articles come up when Googling "1970 Green Road Runners". This car had an extensive OEM restoration a while back, unknown exact date, that was told to have over $100,000.00 spent. The odometer reads 76,370 but on the CLEAN Arizona and now CLEAN Texas titles read 67,628 which is told to be the original mileage before it had the “Exceeds Mechanical Limits” applied; I can’t verify the mileage statement, but when you see the car, it will become apparent, this could be considered a survivor. It is believed that this was the original mileage is when it was restored.
It was restored to its original OEM production condition and only original/reproduction MOPAR Factory Options were added, no aftermarket options but for a Rear Stabilizer Bar and 8 Track system.
This is a REAL RM21 Road Runner Coupe which I understand is more desirable due to the body strengthened B Pillar. It has the numbers matching 383 H.O. 335 HO Road Runner exclusive motor. This has the 440 Cam and Heads that were installed specifically to a Road Runner 383 Motor at the factory to reach the very under rated 335 HP. It is not the standard Blue Painted 383 but the HO 335 as also indicated by the engine Hemi Orange color and serial numbers; you couldn’t get the Air Conditioning with this motor and Air Grabber Hood set up. Absolutely no engine noises, smoking or anything that would indicate an issue…Starts right up cold or warm. Inside the Valve Covers is surgically clean. Looks to be the original Radiator. No overheating, plenty of oil pressure and drives smooth and straight down the road with absolutely no issues. There is a new Edlebrock Carburetor installed. .Would drive anywhere.
It is refinished to its original Factory F8 Ivy Green, (now a new throwback color on new Challengers and Chargers) and the near perfect interior is the correct Two Tone Green colors per the Fender Tag. It has the A833 4 Speed Transmission with a Factory installed Hurst Shifter, 8 ¾ Rear Sure Grip with the 3.55 Gears. Everything to include the Cigarette Lighter, Lights, Wipers, Heater, Brake Indicator Light, Reverse Indicator, Dash Lights, Dome Light, Map Light and Clock works as new. The Tachometer is a Tic Tok Tac, but Tac function does not currently function, unknown reason; there is a brand new $500.00 OER one in the box to go along with the car. The original Radio is installed and connected, but of course, does not turn on
The show quality paint on the car in my opinion is a 9.5 out of 10 with only a few minute slight chips from driving on the lower Rocker Panels which were touched up. There are no cracks or crazing anywhere in the paint. There is a a one dime size blemish that appears like a small finger print in the clear coat on the Driver Side Fender which I believe could be wet sanded and buffed out, its not in the color coat. There are 2-3 very minute bumps in the paint. I’d have to show you where all of these are as they are unnoticeable. None of these issues would even show up in the pics. This paint is very glossy and smooth all the way to the underside of the Rocker Panels. Some minor surface rust patina on the trunk under the mat which may have been due to condensation under the rubber mat over time. This has been treated with an anti corrosion compound.
The body is LASER Straight as defined by some enthusiasts and collectors. All doors, Trunk, Hood and Glove Box function properly and smoothly and gaps are straight, flush and symmetrical. All of the original Sheet Metal looks to be still there as the Pics indicate the stampings to include the Front Radiator Support Beam, Floor Pans, Fenders etc. The only item that seemed to be replaced/spliced was the lowest section of the Passenger Side Rear QTR Panel behind the Rear Tire. very professional repair as only detected from the inside trunk seam.
The Original Fender Tag is present which indicates all options which is exactly the way the car is today. OEM Options not depicted on the Fender Tag are the Air Grabber Hood, Power Steering, Front Disc Brakes, Dual Exhaust, Go Wing Spoiler and the Factory Bucket Seats. Reading some MOPAR articles, there was information out there that stated some plants did not include all of the options on the Fender Tags at the Factory. I do not have a build sheet to verify. Never the less, they are all desired OEM options…
All Factory decals, VIN ID, VIN Decal, Spare Tire Decal, Emission Decal and even the original Turn Signal Starting Instructions are Present. There is the OEM Spare Wheel and Tire, Jack and Lug Wrench also included.
No other advertiser would disclose anything I have mentioned, especially as small as they are. They would wait for your car to arrive and you would get surprised. . None here, I am retired military and have something called integrity and honor. .I could go on and on, and have tried to described this masterpiece as accurately as possible. I have been to several Mecum Auctions, several Classic Car Dealers in Texas and can honestly say, they would be asking 100K plus for this based on what people are paying. .
Let the Pics do the talking…
