I just picked up this 1970 K5 Blazer from a gentleman that had owned it for the last 40 years. It was at his cabin near Yosemite. He loved it and said it never let him down. He drove it everywhere and said if it could talk, it had some incredible stories to tell. As I say with all of these old cars, I would rather get an original truck like this than one over any that has a shiny paint job, as you never know what"s hiding underneath the paint, This is one of the most solid, unmolested, honest Blazers I have ever seen!
Highlights : California Truck Its Entire Life Virtually Rust Free V8 / Automatic Early Low Production Blazer (2nd Year) AC Cab Recent Service Runs & Drives Great Factory Interior (I have rear bench seat)
Exterior: It is amazing to find something this original and unmolested. Short of the aluminum slots and the custom front and rear hitch, this truck has stayed original for 50 years. The body is in great condition. There are some small dings, but overall it is very straight and very solid. The common areas where these Blazer rot out are rock solid. Short of some surface rust and the driver"s outer rocker, this is solid. The tailgate, grille, bumpers and chrome are also in very nice condition. I just installed a new windshield and gasket. The aluminum slot wheels cleaned up nice and could easily be restored if you wanted to run them.
Interior: The interior is complete and is in great shape. It has the factory gauge cluster, radio, AC pods, door panels the factory utility bucket seats. The dash pad, glovebox and dash are in great condition. I have the factory matching rear bench seats, I just took it out to clean up the floors. I will add pictures of the bench soon. Both the bucket seats and the rear bench were recovered in cloth at some point, but can be restored to factory covers. The floors, kick panels and cargo area are solid, just some surface rust, The doors are also in great shape.
Mechanical: The Blazer runs, drives and stops great. We did a transmission service (filter, fluid & gasket), flushed the brake fluid, serviced the front and rear axles and the transfer case. It starts up without any problems and the engine sounds good. It appears to have had a tune up recently and is running an electronic distributor. If you wanted to run it as it is, I would throw a fresh set of shocks, do an alignment and replaced the exhaust as it looks original and there is an exhaust leak. he wiring harness also looks clean and original, which you never see. They have usually be butchered up over the years. Overall a very good running, original, unmolested truck. It still has the factory steel hoses for the coolant hoses and air cleaner.
