Vehicle description
1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Ram Air III
This car has been meticulously restored with full documentation. The car comes with extensive paperwork including: PHS documentation including window sticker, service receipts and previous registrations. It was purchased new in Washington DC at Blank Pontiac. Rare options include wood wheel, console, deluxe interior, stacked guages, tinted glass, courtesy lighting, wood shift knob, etc.
Epoxy primer was used on all bare metal during restoration and Sikkens single stage urethane was used in the repaint to best match the original laquer finish. This car runs and drives like a dream. Car has only 800 miles since the full frame-off-restoration twenty years ago and has been kept in climate control storage since.
Engine was built back to standard bore with forged pistons. A ram air 4 cam was installed and advanced 4 degrees.
The Goal of the restoration was to use as many of the original equipment and parts, even down to the original PCV valve! Interesting facts: Original glass was reused with exception of a replacement windshield. The power steering parts are all restored original. The original high pressure line is still intact. All of the body and engine hardware are restored original. Original numbers matching throughout down to the carb, coils, and distributor. A replacement alternator was used since the original one was previously replaced at some point. The carb was rebuilt and replaced. The original dash pad and instrument panel with woodgrain are still in tact. Gauges, shift knob and headliner are original. A Gardner exhaust was installed five years ago. At that time the intake and exhaust manifolds were refinished along with the top side of the engine. The seats were recovered with NOS Comfort Weave material. The seatbelts, radio and console remain original. The front original speaker was restored. All gauges and original buzzers work as new. The wheels, rotors and brake calipers are the numbers matching original units to the car. Fuel tank was replaced retraining the original cap. All lights and side markers are original. The original bumpers were show chromed and look better than new. Original radiator with the original Harrison tanks and AC Delco cap are intact. Horn relay is also original. Vacuum pans and solenoid are original as with the plug wire looms. The original jack is intact. The space saver spare and air can are replacements.
