&nbps; Visit Store 1968 Plymouth Road Runner Hardtop Exterior Color: Blue Interior Color: Blue Body Type: Coupe Transmission: Manual Drivetrain: RWD Mileage: 51,445 The year 1968 saw the emergence of the New Mid Size 5 from Plymouth with the complete redesign of the mid size B-body platform. With the newly restyled GTX as the top tier model, Plymouth saw an opportunity at the other end of the spectrum to reach the entry level performance minded buyer with their new for 68" Road Runner. The Road Runner was to compete with the GTO"s, Fairlane 500"s, and other hot mid size pavement burners but without costing so much as to alienate the younger buyers who craved the performance but weren"t quite well off enough for a GTX. As such, many of these early Road Runners were ordered as a bare bones, no options, street brawlers. The particular Road Runner you see pictured here differs slightly from this recipe as it features factory air conditioning, a rare and expensive optional extra in 1968. The numbers on the odometer are believed to be original and judging from the fact that this car still has it"s original floors and trunk pans, this must have been a southern states ordered car from the beginning, hence the A/C! ! While it sports a fresh repaint of the factory correct and original QQ1 code Frost Blue Metallic paint, the car is otherwise original and unrestored. The patina inside, under hood, and in the chassis is indicative of it"s fifty four years of road use. The engine is the original numbers matching 383CI V-8 with single four barrel carburetor producing 335 horsepower and 425 pound feet of tire shredding torque. All that power flows through a four speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter and on to a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear axle with 3.23 gear ratio and Sure Grip limited slip. Factory heavy duty suspension means this Road Runner corners like its on rail while the baritone track from the dual exhaust is all the sweet sound your heart could desire. This is one stunner of a Road Runner, and all it needs is a new nest to call home! Contact Brian at and take this sweet bird home today! ! FEES & TAX INFORMATION - We are a licensed dealer in the State of Florida and adhere to all state and federal laws and regulations concerning the sale of a used vehicle.
