Vehicle description
1968 - The first year of the Javelin SST. I"ve owned the car for about 5 years. I traded a 1970 240Z for the car. Has a 290 V8 and it"s in very good condition. I know of no rust other than surface. After purchase I drove the Javelin home from LA without issue. When I got the car it had aftermarket parts (high rise manifold, Holly Carb, single stage fuel pump, newer Javelin bucket seats & aftermarket steering wheel). I"m a stocker so it took me a while to find correct year parts and get them changed out. The steering wheel is from a 1968 base model Javelin. I couldn"t find an original wood wheel that was presentable. I left the front buckets in the car because they"re comfortable. SMS Classic Fabrics in Sandy, Oregon has the exact seat fabric to make the front match the original rear seat. AMC"s are odd or unique depending on how you look at it. The Javelin has front disc brakes, shoulder harness" for the front seatbelts, no seatbelts in the rear and vacuum wipers. The car is mostly original paint. I"ve found some repair in passenger rear quarter. The car isn"t perfect but it is very presentable, gets lots of attention, runs and drives very well. Needs some time and cosmetics to be nearer perfect. The windows don"t line up exact. I have aftermarket parts to upgrade the door regulators and make with window glass fit properly and parts to replace engine oil dipstick channel. There"s also a small leak of power steering fluid. I installed an electric pusher fan (just in case), have rough stock front seats and a new rear package tray (the deck below rear window) to include. It"s not a trailer queen but you could drive it 100 miles on a hot day and enjoy the drive (with all the windows down).
