Vehicle description
This auction is a 1968 AMC Javelin Coupe . It belongs to a friend who asked if I could list it for him. It is more or less a barn find as it has been in storage since the mid 80"s. Looks like someone was starting to do some repairs and then put it away. Really dont know much history on the car but will describe it to the best of my ability. The car has its original drive train which is a 290 V-8 with Automatic Transmission and Power Steering. Factory original red paint with its original black stripes. Was told the car does have 38,000 original miles and it sure does run like it. Very strong motor, trans goes right into gear but no brakes at the moment. We put on an alternative fuel source to start the car. Appears that rear brakes were done as you can see new wheel cylinders and both rear brake lines were run. We have in boxes brand new brake hardware and a brand new master brake cylinder that still needs to be installed. The interior is all intact. Excellent dash. We do have the original headliner that needs to be glued to the card board backing. All lights work. All glass is good with the exception of the front windshield which is cracked. The body on the car does need attention. Someone cut out the floor pan areas and they still need to be trimmed out properly in order to fit the new floor pans in. Same with the new trunk pan. There is receipts for $700 just in pans and about $300 in brake parts. The back portions of the quarter panels need replacement. Also the back frame rail on the left side needs about a 12 inch repair. The right side just a small rust spot. There are various dings and dents but overall still very repairable. One good thing is the car is still all original paint and you can see it for what it is. The fuel tank was removed but we have it along with the straps to put it back in place. The trunk lid and hood are solid on the outside but do have rust through on the underside. Still fixable especially the rare louvered hood that you dont see very often. Other items we have for the car is the hood springs, rear valance panel and plate holder, two molding trim for rear window, complete shop manual and a few other trinket parts. No question the car needs to be restored but it is still a worth while project or a treasure trove of parts. You dont see many of them out there so I still feel it is worth saving. I know with the upcoming holiday season it may be hard to get a shipper right away. We are willing to store the car until you are ready to pick it up as long as it is paid for in advance. If you need a title in your state we can register the car and with that and our proper dealer paperwork you will receive a title. It would be $200 extra should you need this service. We require a $500 dollar non refundable deposit at the end of the auction and balance to be paid within 3 days of auctions end. If you need more pics or info feel free to call or email us at days or 207-432-2862 eves and Sundays.
