Vehicle description
SUPER attention getting 1967 Amphicar 770 that really does swim! What a GREAT way to enjoy the summer.
Vehicle is driven regularly for local parades, car shows and holidays as well as giving neighbors, friends and their kids rides in and out of lake. Rear mounted Triumph engine pushed vehicle on land with German designed 4 speed manual transaxle and forward, neutral and reverse water transmission through dual props. Steering on land and water is with steering wheel, the front tires are the rudders in water.
Paint is good, minor pits in paint below doors and around fenders. Hull is excellent with no defects or leaks, Interior is good to excellent with no rips or tears in upholstery, convertible top has 1" tear above passenger door, no discoloration and rear plastic window is clear. one wing wind has crack along bottom. Door seals are 6 years old. Brakes and bearings were redone less than 50 miles ago. Engine and both transmission fluids were changed this year. Tires are excellent with no cracking and excellent tread. Pull the choke and engine starts right up, no smoke and runs smooth, both transmissions shift smooth and operate as they should. Clutch is smooth and I should mention the brakes are somewhat weak after coming out of water, they are drum brakes, but once dry stop the car well.
This amphicar will be a great addition to buyers collection that he can not only show at car shows drawing as much if not more attention as super cars and classic muscle cars, but also drive it to the closest body of water and self launch at the boat ramp, going for a cruise, it really draws attention in and out of the water.
This is a no reserve, winning bidder takes the car/boat home, PLEASE don"t bid unless you intend pay in full with certified funds or cash within one week per the instructions. The pictures tell the most complete story if you require any addtional info please email me and I will attempt to supply additional information. Bidders are welcome to inspect vehicle prior to end of bidding at 59711, after bidding closes, buyer to arrange own transportation of vehicle at buyers expense.
The Amphicar was designed and built from 1961 to 1967 in Germany. There were only 3,878 produced in Germany, 3,048 were sent to the United States, you can"t get much more rare than that.
