Vehicle Details 1966 TR4A IRS with Laycock Overdrive - Garage Queen - not running / minor assembly needed.####################################################################################I bought this car in 1991 from a co-worker at GE in Daytona Beach. As far as I know it has always been a Southern car and spent its first years in South Carolina. I drove it for a year or two, then decided to restore it. However, I was just starting to work on cars at the time and didn’t have a decent air compressor or paint gun. I shot the car in DuPont Signal Red (it was already a faded Signal Red) in Acrylic Lacquer and proceeded to sand and sand and sand. .and it came out pretty well considering. I just rubbed it out again and it looks pretty decent in most places (except the odd chip here and there from being a garage queen- a pint or so of the original paint will be included). One weird spot is the first foot of the front of the hood that somehow got some sort of etching damage (definitely not rust or blisters). I rubbed some of it out but I don’t want to go any deeper because I am not sure how deep the paint is there (but I used a whole gallon, less a pint of paint on the little car). I reassembled the car somewhat but I don’t think I drove it legally on the road after about 1992 (I got involved in TOO MANY other project cars). I acquired a LAYCOCK TYPE A OVERDRIVE from a TR6 and installed that into it, but did not hook up the electrics or solenoid (easy- just a switch and a couple of wires). The Overdrive has not been tested. I also re-lacquered the dashboard , replaced the dashpads and switch plinth and put a new (Robbins?) top on (which is still in great condition, since it has never been outside of a garage). I installed a new windscreen with both seals (and these are all in fine shape). In 1997 I divorced and moved to a different location that had a very different (worse) traffic pattern and never drove the car except around the block just to keep it running. However, it has not been started for about ten years now. The car has about 93K miles on it (I replaced the speedo with a nicer one). It sips a bit of oil, but nothing major. I drove it into the garage about 10 years ago and it hasn’t really been touched until just now. The engine turns freely and is not locked up. The SU Carbs appear to be OK- the pistons move freely with the expected dampening resistance. From my inspections, I do not believe the car ever had any major accident damage, but the hood did not have any lettering or holes on it (so must be a replacement).Even though it may appear otherwise, the car is sold complete, with a few noted exceptions. I cannot locate the inside rear view mirror or sun visors. I cannot find the rear bulkhead that goes inside the trunk against the gas tank. Included is a NOS (repro) set of black carpeting . A decent used tonneau cover is included. The interior panels are included and are all in pretty good original condition.Right front caliper is seized and has been removed but is included. The buyer will need to plan to replace the hydraulic cylinders (probably all) and possibly the brake lines (though I have not looked at them) as the master cylinders have seized. Front floor panels(both sides ) in front of the seats were patched before I acquired the car.The battery box area has partially rusted through, but this can be easily repaired. I have included pictures of the frame. I applied a coat of frame paint to it shortly after I bought the car. It could probably use wire brushing and freshening up.I hope someone can finally finish this old bird and enjoy it. These cars are about as simple as dirt. This one needs to be gone through again, for safety's sake. Please, please come and inspect this car before you bid. It is far from perfect. I have been on ebay since 1999 and have a 100% feedback rating. I am happy to answer any questions or provide additional photos on request.A $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction ending Buyers Inspection: Seller has disclosed all material information known about this vehicle for auction.
