Vehicle description
Really nice very straight all original Numbers Matching California car that spent a little time stored in Missouri with Just it"s ass end slightly exposed so very end of car got a little rusted but was fixed by a professional welder. Rear bumper and taillight trim is pitted. Gas tank lip on drivers side was partly replaced along with trunk lid, lip near trunk latch and had tiny spot fixed on inside front corner of rear right quarter panel, had a couple tiny holes around tail lights but everything is now all looking California clean looking. I got a used original Caliente trunk lid for it that is blue, it had a couple tiny spots on lip that got welded up nicely, it did not have a Comet emblem on it like the original had but I got the original that would need to be drilled out to put trunk lid back to like the original one was.
It looks to me it"s all original paint and stripes on car, looks like it was never wrecked anywhere. If you can touch up paint to match car on rear would be great. Old paint still has some shine to it. I don"t see patches or puddy anywhere, only funny spot is gas fill door has paint layer flaking off a little like it was paint touched up but only seems to be right there that ever had any touch ups done to it.
Chromes real nice except all on very back rear-end of it.
Nice glass and trim, I acquired extra back glass and rear side glass for it that goes with it.
Pretty close to complete all original car. Missing? Rear view mirror. Two long horizontal chrome grill strips. Needs a new sending unit for the new gas tank, I was told the match to it was to get a Fairlane 427CID car sending unit but never got it yet.
It has a slight ding in grill and a crease in the hood chrome and it"s missing the two long horizontal chrome strips that go in the middle of the grill.
I even got the original glass bottle and holder for windshield washer fluid.
Dash pad is perfect other than t here"s slight rust dots on medal dash part. I got original keys and holder. Seats are not bad but drivers seats ripped a little. Door panels are nice, previous owner said he replaced the carpet, said it was moldy. Back of back seat looks like it was moldy, discolored? Floors, frame everything looks like new from under the car! Mouse hole in head liner above the drivers side sun visor. Almost no dings or dents, I think one little ding above pass door, on center medal part of grill and bottom corner of door is bent in slightly but it is a really straight perfectly lined up panel car like it"s never been apart other than motor and tyranny out right now and supposedly was all rebuilt.
It has a real nice console! The light lens in back is old dry and cracked up. It"s exactly the same as a 66 mustangs console light assy. $50 new. I have five original hubcaps. I got new motor mounts.
All original numbers matching motor! Was told it was all rebuilt and it all looks like new but not turning over by hand, just pulled oil pan and it has slight rust on big weighted parts of the crank shaft but all metal I see is clean, cylinders pistons look like new! Looking threw spark plug holes all look like new in there. Hormonic balancer rubber looks old and cracked. It"s just barely pushed on.
The previous owner was a mechanic and said he rebuilt the C6, 390 motor and the 3.25 locker posi that is also painted like new.
Only has power steering. Drum brakes.
It"s a really nice California all original numbers matching car that just needs TLC, put back together, cleaned up and touched up to have practically a museum piece. May never find one this clean and never been a rusted out cobbled together car of this caliper again?
Some old pictures before and after rust spots were fixed.
I had the original Carburetor rebuilt by Holley to just like it came originally! I think I got the original air cleaner also.
Still has the original hood insulation in it and factory writings/markings on it.
I got a lot of boxes of parts not including the motor and tyranny that"s pout so you"ll need a truck for the extra parts.
Nice original chrome valve covers.
I have original owners registration tags from new up to 1988, he lived in Fresno Ca. The DSO code was Oakland Ca. Assembly plant was Los Angeles Ca. Polar White 1619 Interceptor 390 4 barrel motor 335 HP @ 4800 RPM. C6 Axle Ratio: 3.25:1 Equa-Lock Differential
About as Original as you"ll ever get not to mention a California car to boot! !
I hate to get rid of it but it looks like I"m never going to get to it and it can"t sit around any longer so I hope it gets the TLC asap it needs. No Reserve! Good luck!
