This is a fairly rare Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible . Lists on mercurystuff.com and myclassicgarage.com list production at only 3922 in 1966. Given the fact that there were over 25,000 Comets that year and the 50 years that have passed since, there are probably only a handful still on the road today. This car has brand new Cardinal Red paint (original color) over a fully restored body (professional body shop cut out minor rust and replaced with metal - photos available). The fuel system has been restored from acid etch of the original gas tank to new fuel lines, fuel pump, and remanufactured carburetor. The exhaust has been replaced, the brakes have replaced. The car got new tires at the beginning of the restoration and have very few miles on them. The interior is all new. New seat covers, custom restored door panels, new carpet. The original engine and transmission run well. The car drives very smoothly. The power convertible top is new and the electric hydraulic pump works well to raise and lower the top.
