Vehicle Details 1966 Mercury Comet 2 Door Hardtop. 289 V8 Engine with automatic Transmission. This car sat in a field for the last 20 years and has a lot of rust. It needs floors and rear quarter panels as you can see in the pictures and maybe more. The drivers front floor is the worst. Big hole there.There is some rust bubbling around the rear window on the pillars.This could be a great project ( Major ) or a great parts source for saving another Comet.Someone did a lot of work on this at one time. The 289 Engine appears to have been rebuilt at one time and is very smooth and quiet.Sounds like it has a mild aftermarket camshaft It has an offenhauser intake manifold with 600 Holley carburetor. Mallory Unilite distributer with coil and hyper box with Mallory tachometer that works. Exhaust headers that appear in good shape still.The car runs, drives and stops. It is amazing that the brakes work but they do. I have not driven this above about 15 MPH ( The speedo works ) but the trans seems to work fine also. The fluid looks good in it. All of the original seat belts are still in it and the spare tire and jack. It even has a CB radio still installed from back in the day. The steel 14 inch wheels also appear to be wider than stock. The door hinges are tight and doors open and shut really nice. This can be driven onto a trailer or transport with no problem. Shipping and arrangements are the responsibility of the winning bidder. I have the clean Utah title in my name. I had plans for this car but I just have too many projects. Also the original color of the car was white. Car would need to be picked up in a timely manner. No guarantees on this car. What you see is what you get. Windshield cracked. All other glass is intact. Mileage is 85113 but I have no idea if it has turned over or not.
