Vehicle description
For sale is a rare 1965 Sunbeam Imp rear engine coupe. It is fully restored while drawing inspiration from the original Rally cars, and more pointedly at Rosemary Smith who won the Tulip rally in 1965. All the decals are removable if so desired. Rear seats were removed and a roll bar installed, vintage style Corbeau GT4 retro buckets seats installed purchased directly from GSM in Nottingham. Car has front disc brakes, Wilwood master, road race cam and "straight edge" block which is a lot more durable and doesn"t have the overheating issues of the "curly block". Larger Solex carb., Petronix igniton, new clutch, upgraded charging system and electrics with alternator and new shocks. There is zero rust on this car, floor boards are perfect as pictured both on top and underneath. Sound and heat deadner Wirez was installed front to back and carpet was glued down to it as shown in pics. Rather then keep the spare tire up front it was bolted to the rear package tray as pictured for that more vintage rally car look. These cars ran very successfully against other similar cars back in their day in rallies including Austin, MG, Triumph and Porsche. This was due in part to their unique design, suspension/steering setup and rear engine getting the most out of an engine with under 1000cc"s. These cars will surprise you with their ability, are a lot of fun to drive, and far superior to drive compared to a Austin Mini. Not only are they quite a bit larger, but they ride better and handle better (which is subjective I know). I suggest doing an internet search if you are not already familiar with these cars. Car comes with many spares as well as a lamented original ad celebrating Rosemary"s Tulip Rally win, along with another Imp that placed 2nd followed by a Austin Mini that placed 3rd My reason for selling is simply to make room for something else I want to add to my collection, so this one is the sacrifice. The car will bring many smiles and fun, you will get stopped a lot by people asking questions and at show and shines you will be in very small company. This is a reserve auction and the reserve won"t be revealed, bid what you think you can afford, I do not currently have a "Buy It Now". I welcome any inspections on the car, but after the auction ends it considered sold if reserve is met, $500 deposit at auction end, balance in 8 days. I will assist with shipping in whatever way I can, for pricing I would suggest Independent Auto & RV Hauling, they ship anywhere to and from Canada/US at 780-839-8251. I"m not affiliated with them in any way it"s just I"ve used them in the past very successfully. All pictures are current and taken on May 14/17. As well I uploaded a video on Youtube so you can hear the car running at https:/ youtu.be/PzzufjkxHc its entitled "Running 1965 Sunbeam Imp" . The car needs nothing, just a driver to enjoy her.
