Vehicle description
1965 Land Rover Series IIA short wheel base "88" This Land Rover is an estate sale item from the garage of a serious European car collector. This rig was owned by the collector for over 30 years and originated and lived in the eastern Washington desert where rust isn"t allowed. The frame and bulkhead have no rust, the front axle ball swivels have no pitting and there is no sign of cancer at the base of the windshield. There is a bit of surface rust at the wheel wells and underneath the door sills but no rotting or holes. This Land Rover was well cared for by the owner and has thousands of dollars worth of receipts indicating all the parts replaced. It was garaged stored for many years however the last 6 years it was stored outdoors. The owner added about 5000 miles in the 30 years and the odometer currently shows 72655 miles.
This Land Rover has many options including an overdrive unit integrated in the stock 4 speed manual transmission and Hi-Lo transfer case. It is equipped with a vented tropical style rear roof, Kodiak Arctic heater, Warn front hubs, Warn Superwinch in custom front brush guard bumper, custom heavy box rear bumper with trailer hitch, overhead boat/roof rack, auxiliary fuel tank, lamp guards.
The major custom difference in this Land Rover is the addition of a 1968 289 Ford V8 installed in the 70"s. This is a stock 2 barrel engine in good condition with upgraded cooling, it has a cross-flow radiator with electric fans. This swap uses a Ford bellhousing with an adapter to the original Land Rover 4 speed transmission. This Rover has recently received new brake and clutch master cylinders, new clutch slave cylinder and all wheel cylinders. Includes new front leaf springs and rear spring bushings. The door side curtains are later model upgrades but the original 1965 side curtains are included. Also included is the original rear door and several small parts.
The front fenders are later model style with outboard headlights. This Rover is equipped with rear jump seats and a bolted in aluminum toolbox as well as a hood mounted spare tire. This Rover runs and drives however it has a few things that need attention. The headlights work intermittently and the steering box is stiff and an effort to steer. The auxiliary fuel tank electric selection valve needs to be replaced though the electric fuel pump and filter are new and the main tank works fine. There is a leak from the heater core, so it"s bypassed. More pics available, just ask
