Very few cars can say they were first to start a trend, and even fewer can say they made such a large impact on the motoring world. Pontiac did just that with the introduction of the GTO in the mid-sixties. The production of a 2-door sports car with a powerful engine designed for high performance driving ushered in the famed muscle car era. This 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible features a 389 cubic inch V8 with the optional Tri-Power carburetor setup producing a smile-inducing 360 horsepower. All this power is transferred to the pavement via the four-speed manual transmission and center console mounted Hurst shifter. On sunny days, the power top can be lowered to enjoy the superb sound emitting from the dual exhaust. Other features include power front disc brakes, power steering, bucket seats and Pontiac Rally wheels to name a few. Inside the mint-condition black vinyl bucket seat interior is a wood grain steering wheel, courtesy lighting, a modernized cassette stereo system and full seat belts. No detail went unnoticed in the preservation and restoration of this genuine GTO convertible. Correct GM parts are used throughout the car increasing the desirability of this unmodified Pontiac with examples like the date-coded ignition wires and coolant hoses just to name a few. This car is showing to have 27 miles on the odometer since its recent comprehensive restoration, however the actual miles are unknown. If the GTO is your dream muscle car, let us help you make that a reality with this sensational fully restored example in beautiful burgundy.
