Vehicle description
This Austin was purchased in 2012 and received a mechanical and interior refurbishment in 2015 that included a rebuild of the numbers-matching inline-six, the installation of a Toyota five-speed manual transmission, and more. It is finished in Colorado Red with a black canvas soft top over a replacement black leather interior. The car is equipped with a replacement canvas soft top, as well as a top boot cover sourced from AH Spares in England. This 3000 BJ8 is now offered with its original transmission, service records, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, a tonneau cover, and a clean title. The 2.9-liter inline-six was rebuilt by Elite Vehicle Restorations, in 2015 with a .030″ over piston set, new bearings, new gaskets, and more. Oil pressure while cold idle: 60 Oil pressure while warm idle: 48 Oil pressure while driving: 50 Water temp while driving: 160° Other work included machining, Magnafluxing, and boring the block, and installing a five-speed manual transmission from a Toyota Celica. Equipment includes a replacement exhaust system and a resurfaced flywheel. The oil was last changed in April 2020, and t he original four-speed manual transmission is included in the sale. The electric overdrive is on the original transmission that is out of the car, having been replaced with the Toyota 5 speed. The toggle switch is still on the dash but it is inoperable. New owner gets the original transmission with the purchase of the car.
