Vehicle description
Replica/Kit Makes . Condition is New.
This auction is for a new white body only! The driving car pictured is on a space frame that I built. The body on it is as it comes out of the mold. I haven"t done the body work or paint on it yet. I laid out the stripe with duct tape to visualize it.
The body is hand laid. It is as it comes out of the mold. The seams and final body work/paint will be required. With the purchase of the body I will provide drawings and measurements for the frame and a list of parts that I used to build the car. I used readily available, inexpensive parts.
I love the late 50"s and 60"s sports race cars. One of my favorite was the 1964 Cheetah. The original Cheetah was a coupe race car built with Chevy parts to race against the Shelby, Ford based, Cobra. I loved the looks put wanted a roadster, more comfortable cockpit/foot boxes, and the frame stiffer. So, I set out to build my own car.
The body is NOT an exact replica of the Cheetah. I created it using the styling ques of the Cheetah and incorporated other features to my taste. When I had the plug finished I had a Fiberglass company make molds. Since I have molds and can have them make more bodies I"ve decided to offer them for sale.
The body is a simple and strong 2 piece design. The tub incorporates the firewall, dash, and cockpit. The flip up front has a firewall molded in. The body easily mounts and lines up perfectly every time.
I designed the frame to accept C4 Corvette suspension and Chevy Small Block or LS engines. The wheelbase is 93 inches. It"s 72 inches wide at the rear fenders and 70 inches wide at the front. It"s 42 inches to the top of the windshield and 12"2" long. Finished with an all steel small block the weight is under 1900lbs. It has 52% rear weight.
I"m 6"2" tall, weight 210lbs and have a 34 inch inseam. My 6"2" tall son is in the picture of the car. I made the cockpit and foot boxes so that we sit very comfortably and have great leg room. The original Cheetah bolted the transmission directly to the differential. I run a 12 inch long driveshaft. This moved the engine far enough forward to make the seating/driving position very comfortable. I made sure that you can sit low in the car. The seat were using can even be lowered another 1.5 inches.
The cockpit accepts 16 inch wide seats. The windshield/frame is from an MGB. They are readily available, DOT legal, and reasonably priced.
I"ve had my car on the road for 8 weeks. I"ve put 900miles on it. It drives and handles great.
I love Cobras but wanted something different. I believe that my car is a great alternative to the Cobra for Chevy guys.
The body is located in Elizabethtown, NY 12932. Free local pick up. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will help load the body. I can get you in touch with the company that Factory Five uses for their shipping. I"ve used them with great results.
