I have decided to list my 1964 VW Caravelle camper , It’s not an easy decision to make . But here goes . I purchased this bus about 7 years ago from the second owner . Who purchased it in1967 from his friend . Him and his wife camped in the bus a few times before the motor had an overheating issue . He then parked the bus . There is sat for more than 40years . I tried for many many years to buy it . Without success . But every summer I’d make a call and leave a message . He was a farmer so was always busy . But one day many years later . My phone rang and it was him . We eventually made a deal and I brought it home . Here is the work I did , to make it road worthy again . First off after a good cleaning , I rebuilt all the braking system , new wheel cylinders , brake lines , brake shoes ,master cylinder . Then onto motor and transmission . I removed the original 1500cc and the transmission . After cleaning I replaced all the transmission seals ,nose cone new bushings ,boots , throw out bearing , mounts , shift couplers , shift bushings etc. the engine was upgraded to a rebuild 1600cc ,and converted to 12volt with and alternator . A new fuel tank and fuel sender was installed .along with new German fuel line . The bus was fully converted to 12 volt wiper motor ,lights etc . All in good working order . It has new 215/75/15 General Grabber tires , nicely aged roof rack . It does come with the original poles for the side awning . The front seats were redone with quality seat padding from Wolfsburg west and very nice original style seat cover to match the original seats . Rear seat folds down into a bed . All door paneling and everything inside is completely original.Yes it shows it’s age .But it’s only original once ! The exterior patina on the bus is amazing . The roof is pretty sunburnt but metal is solid . The bus over all is extremely solid and has never been welded on altered in anyway . I personally love it’s originality and character , and it gets a lot of attention cruising down the road . It’s a very usable driver you can enjoy , without having to worry so much about a scratch . I think I covered most of it , it’s just a bus that’s stood the test of time . Just don’t find them like that anymore . If you have any questions you can always ask.
