Donated by a California estate after the passing of their matriarch mother & original provenance owner, we have a 1964 INNOCENTI 1100 S SPIDER ROADSTER for sale . 1 of only 2100 ever produced! Supported by the attached 1972 Motor Vehicle Excise Tax receipt, this car were purchased & imported into Massachusetts USA. It was soon relocated to California USA. 1 owner for over 53 years! The car is long out of the DMV system and for the past 20 years, housed indoors. Brown in color, the odometer reads 33,521 miles . As cat wranglers, not car restorers, this classic appears to have its original Austin Healey engine & mechanicals with lots of original parts on a solid rolling chassis. One of the most successful and desirable is the Innocenti Spider, a compact sports car with superb styling introduced at the 1960 Turin Auto Show. Innocenti made a splash with an attractive little Spider built upon Austin Healy Sprite underpinnings.
The 1964 Innocenti 1100 S Spider is a Ghia-designed, OSL built and British Motor Corporation [BMC] backed roadster based on the MK2 Austin-Healey Sprite with modified chassis. The Spider was the first Tom Tjaarda design for Ghia and was assembled by OSI in Milan. Fewer than 7,000 cars were produced over five years, approximately 2,100 of which were 1100 S models . The Sprite origins are visible in the familiar shifter hump, transmission tunnel, and floor braces . Power is from a 1,098cc Austin A-series four with its signature olive green rocker cover, while shifting is via a 4-speed manual transmission. Induction is from twin SU carburetors breathing through pancake filter housings.
