It"s rare to find a remake of something that"s actually BETTER than the original. .but this BIG boy toy fits the bill! This is a replica of a 1962 Austin Healy Le Mans with flared fenders and that "Healy look".
There are many things changed in the kit to either make it look more authentic or for functional reasons. The kit came with door handles, but the original did not have them - the holes were glassed in. The trunk had extraneous holes glassed in. To help provide cooling, the Austin Healy hood scoop was made functional as well as introducing screened vents on the hood and front sides. The original chassis was deemed not strong enough for the powerful engine to go in the car. As a result, a monoco-like frame work of molychrome tubing was added to strengthen the frame.
The engine is a Buick Grand National on steroids! The aluminum block V6 was bored and stroked to 4.4 liters. It has a 22 psi turbocharger and a large intercooler. It has Dyno tested out at 500HP and 550 lbs of torque. The transmission is a race, ratio-ed, heavy duty 5 speed manual. AC custom built as well. Everything was built from scratch, and has less than 10,000 miles on them. The Strange rear end puts the power on the ground through 13 inch wide tires.
Amenities include: removable soft top; air conditioning; alarm system; stereo system; custom wood interior; leather, cloth seats with 5 point driver, 4 point passenger safety harnesses; electric positioned driver"s seat and more. This car was built at and can be seen at Colvin Automotive 2715 Hancock Drive, Austin. I"m selling this for a friend so I don"t know a lot about it. Please check it out in person, or send your mechanic to evaluate it prior to bidding. International buyers welcome. I will help with shipping arrangements but all costs are the buyer"s responsibility. $500 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. Balance due within 7 days. Well over $100,000 invested in this beautiful, exciting, one of a kind car. .You"ll love this CAR!
