Vehicle description
This is a rare, all aluminum, never been painted, vintage Grumman Olson step van on a Ford chases that has had all of the mechanical upgrades done. "Every-day-driver" condition, ready for you to install your own cargo interior or leave it as-is. I"ve had my fun with it and I"ve come to terms with moving her on to someone else to have fun with her. This truck gets photographed A LOT and is an extreme attention getter, so if you shun attention - don"t buy this! Imagine your brand or company on the side and how noticed it will be!
I will consider trades of similar value builds - car or truck, but just know that I will be picky. Please don"t send me junk offers. My ultimate dream trade would be for a 1970 Chevelle SS or a 1967 Impala convertible. I like pickup trucks and could use one of those too. I"d prefer the trade be newer than mine and most, if not all, of the mechanical work already done . I"m looking for a driver, not another project.
She runs great, drives great and comes ready for you to peel off my sticker/wrap and install yours. FYI, under the sticker/wrap is a painted logo of a local wine store - pictures of both signs below. NOTE: The pictures of the truck with the wide white walls are older. Those tires and rims were replaced with new wheels and tires, but I still have the wheels and wide white wall tires which will be included with the truck.
Here is a list of all that has been done:
Brand new Blueprint 383 Stroker small block Chevy motor (less than 2000 miles on it) Holly 850 double pumper carb New headers and custom dual exhaust New aluminum radiator with rammed air to enforce cooling Dual electric fan Front disc brakes Longer throw front leaf springs professional installed New shocks New wheels and tires Rear end gear changed for freeway driving Steering box replaced New period correct steering wheel and horn Chevy Turbo 350 Trans - recently serviced Hurst shifter New gauges New radio, power amp, front speakers and rear subwoofer Entire cargo area has had Be Quiet (same as DynaMat) insulation installed Wood floor replaced with steel plate Rubber gym floor mat over Be Quiet insulation Heater core cleaned - works great 2 LED dome lights installed Correct vintage plates and sticker sourced and registered New sliding door built Custom front bumper Custom grill New wiper motor Used high back leather seat installed Custom drivers seat roll bar and seatbelt harness What still needs to be done and some disclaimers: This truck is 56 years old and it"s seen a few bumps and bruises along the way. It is by no means pristine. For example, when I bought it there had been a very professional repair of the front right fender and sliding door frame. So it appears it was in an accident a very long time ago. The sliding door was peeling apart so I had a new one made as I couldn"t find a replacement. It"s not perfect but it does work. The door does rub in when sliding it open and close, but it does work. There was also a floor added below the drivers seat too which was professionally done. Have no idea what the condition of the box below is. Looks like somewhere along the line that the front of the roof leaked as their is evidence of aluminum sealer on the edges. Some of the rubber seals on the windows have shrunk and thus let water in when it rains hard, which is rare in So Cal. Some of the windows have been replaced with new rubber, but the original windows are starting to have seal failures on the edges. The window in the sliding door does not have the correct rubber holding it in, but it isn"t going anywhere! Also, the felt around the channels in the door window are gone and need to be replaced. I also recently rubbed the front bumper, drivers side against a light pole base in a parking lot. Just rubbed some paint off, but it is this sort of thing that gives it character!
Truck can be seen and test driven in S. Orange County, CA.
