Vehicle description
1961 Ford Falcon Ranchero rust free California car built in San Jose and lovingly restored over a 10 year period. This car was built to look stock but perform so much better. To improve drivability Borgeson power steering was added which replaces the tired original steering box and adds power assist to steering. This car has a top loader 4 speed from the 1970s which has 4th gear as overdrive. The clutch is new and also is hydraulically assisted from a Modern Drive Line hydraulic throwout bearing which works fantastic really good clutch feel. Brakes are upgraded to Disc brakes in the front, drums in the back. The 302 engine is pretty stock but has an Edelbrock 4 barrel performer manifold and Edelbrock carburator both are less than 2 years old. This car is a runner and is fun to drive. The interior is super clean and stock with the original two-tone black and white vinyl interior from Ford. The seat was upholstered to match exactly the original seat fabric and stitch patterns with new foam and spring work. Drivability was also improved by having some real tunes in the car and not a compromise sound system like most classics. Speakers are mounted in the doors instead of the kick panels. The sound system is complete with an Alpine, 4 channel amplifier and Alpine 8" R series woofer behind the seat. For anyone who is tall you will appreciate that this Ranchero has more leg room than most has seat track extenders which allow the bench seat to go back an extra 3 inches. The body on the outside is completely rust free if you look at the pictures of the underside this car has one of the most solid floors I have ever seen. Before paint was sprayed all seams were seam sealed and sound deadened. The car was repainted Corinthian White which is an original color for 1961. Just like the restoration shows, on TV (Velocity Channel) the door were removed and the door sills were prepped and painted at the same time. Windshield front and rear were removed along will all trim and brightwork to ensure coverage. I am an ASE certified mechanic and I have a lift in my garage at the house. This car is a great buy please feel free to ask questions. Every area of the car has been restored there should nothing to do but enjoy it. I have toyed with the idea of putting on alloy wheel instead of the 14" steel wheels on it but I will leave something for the next owner to do. The car is built to be easy to work on and fun to drive. The battery was moved to the under bed area and wired with welding cable. Its a brand new battery this year. Cooling system is a triple core radiator with a push and pull fan system. The car always runs nice and cool 185 degree thermostat w/mechanical fan. Also has a manual switch to switch on an electric fan in from of the radiator. Never really need this but its there for piece of mind. Safety of having 3-point shoulder harness seat belts and the bed area was completely sanded and painted then had a bed liner sprayed in by Line-X who has a great product.
