Vehicle description
This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 MKI is a US-spec car built in November 1959 and delivered new to San Francisco. It was originally Ivory White with a red interior according to the included BMI Heritage Trust certificate, and was given a repaint in red and new black/red upholstery years ago. I have acquired this 3000 four years ago from its previous owners in Santa Cruz, California, who used it as a daily driver. 2k miles have been added since, and the odometer now shows 89,691 miles. Power comes from a correct 3.0-liter inline-six paired to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
Service records covering the past nine years are included, along with a set of unused side curtains/hardware, owner’s/service manuals, spare parts, and a clean title. The repaint presents well. A stainless steel exhaust system is currently fitted.Work includes new brakes, new hubs, wheel bearings, a new convertible top, valence, front grille, hood intake, and badge bar. The car rides on knock-off chrome wire wheels wearing Signet SB-802 rubber all around. The interior was previously redone in black with red piping, and the seller states that driver’s seat shows some wear with a small tear in the cushion detailed in the photo gallery. The original vinyl-covered panels in the rear seat area were previously removed and covered with carpeting. The side-curtain hardware was not installed when the new door panels were fitted, though it is included with the sale. The original wiring harness has been replaced, and all electrics work along with the heater.
The 3.0-liter inline-six has been kept stock mechanically, with a new starter and electric fan added in 2015. The 4-speed transmission and overdrive were rebuilt by Collin’s Classics, and the unit was installed with a new clutch/throw-out bearing.
