Vehicle description

Here is a nice stock 1959 Pontiac Catalina. The car was purchased in 1987 from Arizona and has had the same owner since 1987. It had a mild restoration in 1990. This vehicle is *very* solid throughout the frame and body. The interior is in extremely good shape. Overall from bumper to bumper this is a very nice car. The odometer reads 55930 which I assume is NOT actual mileage as the title states it is exempt from odometer disclosure.
Exterior - the car has decent paint. It shines well and it looks decent close up. Not perfect but it looks good. The chrome is in good shape. It shines well, not all pitted up but does have some scuffs. There are 2 small areas on the passengers side with paint imperfections that are included in the photos. They are small areas and there is no rust showing thru. The rear bumper could use a few waves rolled out but it isn"t hideous or terrible. It could use a fresh undercoating perhaps too.
Interior - the interior looks great! It was all redone along with new carpet. The radio and the clock work. The chrome and the dash is in good shape. There is an aftermarket temperature and tach inside.
Engine - this still runs on * leaded* fuel. The engine runs solid, quiet, has good oil pressure and doesn"t run overly hot. It is tuned up, new cap, rotor, points, plugs and wires. Starts right up like a champ.
Brakes - rebuilt master cylinder, new front wheel cylinders and brake shoes. These are power assisted 4 wheel drum brakes and they function and stop as they should. This car really should be upgraded to a dual master cylinder and front disc brakes but that"s for the new owner to decide.
Transmission - this is a HydraMatic automatic. It shifts properly and operates as it should.
Overall this car looks, drives and cruises well. It has 4 wheel power drum brakes that stop the car as good as drum brakes are expected to work. It isn"t a race car but a real comfortable cruiser with silky smooth power steering and a huge steering wheel. It"s not all hacked up with aftermarket parts. Has been very well maintained with a service file with work performed since 1987.
The best way I could sum this car up is it feels like a well maintained 12 year old car that you would have bought used in 1972. It"s not perfect but overall as a package it is in very good shape. You could drive this right up to your local car show today. The only thing stopping you is that you don"t own it. :)
