Vehicle description

A solid restoration candidate with all the major components to either restore to stock 4 cylinder configuration, OR upgrade to same weight (x3 horse power) aluminum V8. Frame is solid and body doesn"t look to have ever been in an accident. Surface rust mostly, with exception of the rocker panels, but includes full set of inner and outer new-old-stock rocker panels from Sports-and-Classics (correct dimensions vs. some of the newer reproductions). I had planned to go the V8 route and price includes three aluminum block Buick/Rover 215 V8 engines. One Buick, one Oldsmobile, and one Land-Rover based. . all essentially the same basic design, but improved over the years. The Land Rover is the newest (early 2000’s) and best, but there are parts on the Buick and Oldsmobile motors that I was going to swap over (4 barrel carb, timing chain cover, etc). Also includes a modern T5 – TREMEC 5 speed manual transmission and narrow Danna 44 rear axle (same width as stock MGA) to handle the additional power. The aluminum V8 weighs ~350lbs and can easily be tuned for 200 HP, while the stock iron block 4 cylinder weighs in at ~400 lbs and produced 72 HP. With the V8 you can have modern Corvette power to weight ratios without screwing up the excellent handling (even by today’s standards) of the original MGA. Many examples of the swap can be found at:
www.britishv8.org
Many extras: 8 wire rim wheels, 2 sets of seats, spare instruments, etc. Shipping is the buyers responsibility. The extra parts are not going to all fit in the vehicle, so it would be difficult to ship via standard car hauler. Hate to see it go, but I"m not sure when I’ll have shop space again. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks! Chris
