Vehicle description

We are the third owners and have had the car 31 years. We used the car as our daily driver for many years. It was built in San Jose on New Year"s Eve 1957 and has always been in California. The car has never been in snow as far as we know.
Car was originally ember red and black, but we painted it about 25 years ago to a more "red" red. About 4 years ago we had the the red repainted again (the black still looks good).
It has an original Edsel hood ornament.
Vintage Edsel shop manual will be included with the car.
All of these items were done and have less than 12000 miles on them: The engine (361 V8 FE E400) and transmission (Cruise-O-Matic) were rebuilt Radiator was re-cored Gas tank replaced Had the brakes worked on, shoes replace, drums turned Did the front end suspension with a Kanter kit New tires Rear bumper rechromed The rear tail lights have reproduction covers Trunk springs repaired and trunk lid gasket was replaced
The car has an aftermarket floor shifter. The second owner got so frustrated with the Teletouch shift buttons and the solenoids not working, that he put in a floor shifter. We updated the shifter a few years ago.
The horse collar is in good shape. All of the trim and lettering is intact. As on most every Edsel I have seen, some of the chrome has pitting, such as the grills on the front and the name plate on the trunk.
The radio is AM/FM with a cassette and is not working. We have a brand new radio we were going to replace it with that we will include. We made the chrome face that is around it. We used the original gray Edsel radio knobs. The adjusting knobs are adapted from a T-Bird.
The headliner was replaced and is in good shape. The woven weather stripping inside the car was replaced, the guy who did the headliner made the new stripping with vinyl.
The interior has the original seats in Ember Red and White. The interior red vinyl is faded, needs a good cleaning, we live in a very dusty area. There is a worn spot on the top edge of the drivers seat and a small tear on the back of the driver"s seat. The vinyl on the inside of the doors where you grip to pull the door closed is damaged on both doors. We replaced the black carpet many years, but the carpet behind the driver is a bit torn up. The plastic around the base of the front driver"s seat has a crack. The vinyl on the visors is cracked and flaked in some places.
No cracks in the glass, one of the back passenger windows does have a scratch.
No rust on the car except 2 spots inside the trunk. One at the bottom of the spare tire compartment, next to the drain hole, and a small hole in the back corner of the interior of the trunk that has been there since we bought the car and it has never got bigger.
The heater core needs to be repaired. It"s disconnected as it leaked. However the control motor and fan work fine. Its very hot where we live, so we never needed the heater.
It has always had a very minor oil drip, by the oil pan, no matter what we tried. Recently, we have seen a few drops of transmission fluid, probably just needs the gasket replaced. As we said, its very hot here and gaskets tend to dry out and need replaced more often than in other areas.
