Vehicle description
Up for sale is my 1958 Corvette 283/290hp Fuel Injected Corvette in Inca Silver with a black vinyl interior and black convertible top. I bought this Corvette last year, and after some research, I discovered that this 1958 Corvette was in fact a real 290hp Fuel Injected car. I then purchased a very nice, correct, and complete Fuel Injection Unit #7014900R (1958 290hp), the correct Fuel Injection Distributor 1110914 dated 8 A 23 (Jan 23, 1958) , and an Original Metal Air Cleaner, not a reproduction Fiberglass one. I also purchased the two piece Air Cleaner hose kit. You can see the photo of the Fuel Injection unit and Distributor in the trunk. The Air Cleaner is bolted in the engine compartment to the bracket on the driver side. The Fuel Injection unit, Distributor, Air Cleaner and Hoses are all included with the sale of this Corvette, unless the High Bidder chooses to exclude them for a $5000 credit from the Winning bid. Please send me a message ahead of time if this will be your intention. I will not sell the Fuel Injection unit, Distributor and Air Cleaner separately from this Corvette.
All indications point to this being a real 283/290hp factory Fuel Injection Corvette by the Following:
-8000 RPM Tachometer -Air Cleaner Bracket Plate Assembly on Driver"s Side Inner Fender (see photo) -No Carbureted Block Off Plate on Driver"s Side Radiator Support -No Screw Threads in Radiator Support Hole Area where a Block Off Plate would have been mounted -Tachometer Cable Hole in Center of Firewall where the cable would connect to the FI distributor -Fuel Injection Emblem Holes Inside Fender Areas -Washer Bottle Bracket on Passenger Side (see photo) -No Washer Bottle Holes on Driver"s Side -Washer Bottle Heat Shield Holes on Passenger Side (see photo) -Washer Vacuum Tank Bracket on Passenger Side -No Washer Vacuum Tank Holes on Passenger Side Splash Pan
The VIN tag is ORIGINAL, not a fake reproduction Tag like many of the C1 Corvettes have that are listed online. I blacked out the last 3 numbers of the VIN on purpose. The Title to this car is a free and clear Florida Title which matches the VIN tag. *All NEW Brake Wheel Cylinders in January 2021- Car stops great now. *Rebuilt Carburetor in January 2021- Car starts up immediately from a cold start . *This 1958 Corvette runs and drives great, and stops great as well. All lights work (see photos) as well as the gauge cluster lights and all gauges work properly (see photos.) As you can see in the photos, all of the lights on the car work, as well as the Horn and the Wipers. All of the gauges work as well, as you can see in the gauge cluster photo. The radio gets some stations, but being a 1958 AM Wonderbar radio, it"s not the best. The Headlights and Brights, Running Lights (front and rear), License Plate Lights, Tail Lights, Brake Lights, Turn Signals, and Dash Lights all work. (photos are included) The engine is a period correct 1961 GM 283ci motor, that runs very strong, with 60 pounds of oil pressure. I added a Tach Drive Generator so that I could have the Tachometer work. The proper Generator without Tach Drive is included in the trunk along with the Fuel Injection Unit, Distributor, and Air Cleaner to Fuel Injection unit Hose. I bolted the original Fuel Injection Air Cleaner to the bracket, and connected the long hose between the air cleaner and the radiator support. The car includes the Spare tire, jack, jack handle and lug wrench, which you can see in the trunk photos. The interior is in great shape, as it was restored by the previous owner. The seat covers, dash pad, door panels and carpet are all in excellent condition. The paint and chrome are also in nice shape, as you can see in the photos. I believe the paint would look even better with a quick color sand and buff. The tires are in great condition, having been replaced by the previous owner. They are BF Goodrich Silvertown wide white walls. The soft top is also in great condition, with no tears or rips and a clear rear window. The frame is rust free and very solid, as you can see in the photos. The exhaust system is also newer, with very little mileage on it, as seen in the photos. The previous owner told me that this is an original Inca Silver Corvette. According to the Corvette Black Book, there were only 193 Inca Silver solid color cars built, and only 36 Inca Silver/Black Cove Corvettes built in 1958. You can enjoy this car as a daily driver now with the carburetor on it, or take it to the next level by getting the correct dated 1958 283ci 3737739 engine block, having it stamped with the CS suffix code, and installing it with the Fuel Injection unit. (Engine blocks are available on as well as NCRS Engine suppliers who will stamp the block, along with the correct broach marks.) According to Hagerty Valuation Guide, the 1958 Corvette with 283/290hp Fuel Injection price valuations for January 2021 are: #1 Condition - Concours $173,000 #2 Condition - Excellent $127,000 #3 Condition - Good $84,800 #4 Condition - Fair $52,700
