Introduction: It is my great honor and pleasure to present this stunning 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Sedan with only 42,321 all original and preserved miles. She has been in a private collection for about the past 30 years and just recently brought back out on the street. Read on for more details and plenty of pictures to capture all of this beautiful Olds. Exterior: Covering every square inch of the original, rust free, body panels is the factory color scheme of Sterling Gray Poly over Junneau Gray Poly. She has seen just one repaint in her life and the paint currently sits at an 8.5 out of 10. There are a few minor blemishes but nothing that is noticible from 5" away. The body panels are 100% original and rust and filler free. The stainless trim is in excellent condition and the chrome is in good driver condition. All of the glass is chip and crack free and is crystal clear with no discoloration or fogging. Interior: Open any door and slide into the industrial elegance that was the "Jet Era" of the 1950"s. The interior is completely original with the exeption of new carpet and the front seat cloth was repaired with perfectly matched fabric from SMS Interiors. The rear seats do have some stains as you can see in the pictures but the fabric is in great condition and doesn"t have any rips or tears. Windows operate fully with ease and the door panels are in great original condition. The dash lights up beautifully and all the guages function properly. The radio and the clock are the only interior items that do not function properly, however, it is my goal to get them working prior to auction completion. Mechanical: Under the hood you will find the legendary Olds 324 "Rocket" V8 engine topped with the orginal 2 barrel carburetor. Pertronix electronic ignition and an electric fuel pump were added to the car to make it a more modern. Backing the Rocket is a 4 speed Hydra-matic automatic transmission. The car is a blast to drive as each gear shift sets you back into your seat a little further. Bringing everything to a hault smoothly and evenly are the four wheel hydraulic drum brakes. For a two barrel carburated engine with the original single exhuast she will move pretty good for a sedan from the 50"s.
