In 1955, the Pontiac Star Chief reigned as Pontiac"s top of the line with a completely new body with eleven inch longer rear overhang. An all new 287 V8 was introduced in 1955 as well. It was built in Washington, DE as a 28 Series 124 longer wheelbase and Hydramatic transmission. The cowl tag indicates style No. 55 2837SD 1955 Star Chief Catalina Coupe Custom and Body No. BW 6746 Washington, DE. The cowl tag also indicated the paint 5562 Turquoise Blue and White Mist trim 284 Ivory and Dark Blue leather and acc dk rear seat speaker. This Star Chief was ordered from Nelson Pontiac located in Radford, VA and retailed on July 21, 1955. The original Pontiac owner service policy and Pontiac owner"s Delco battery service policy are included which documents this information. This car underwent an extensive nut and bolt Concours restoration with no expense spared. This entire car is in show quality condition with attention to detail throughout. The exterior was beautifully designed and is truly automotive artwork. The body is very straight and the paint is stunning. All of the glass trim and chrome is excellent in condition. It sits on 15 inch matching wheels with 7.10 15 BF Goodrich Silvertown white wall tires. The interior has been completely restored and complements the exterior perfectly. The interior is very spacious and elegant. The trunk compartment has been restored and home to the spare tire. The engine compartment is highly detailed with many factory correct items.
