Vehicle description

The 1953 MG-TD that you are reviewing is a very nice driver and has not been restored. It has been reconditioned to be driven and enjoyed and not trailered for ribbons and trophies. To that end I have performed the following: First, I sent the wheels to Hendrix Wire Wheel where the wheels were trued, balanced, and radial tires installed. Secondly, classic British vehicles are notorious oil leakers. At highway speeds, I could loose about a quart of engine oil every 100 miles. Anyone following me was misted with oil. As a result, I installed the Moss 433-421 Oil Seal Kit and Speedi-Sleeve. The picture of the cardboard panels that I park the car on shows the results. No oil leaks. The standard engine oil filter has been upgraded to a "spin on". Finally, I installed Hi-Gear Engineering"s Ford Type 9 five speed gearbox conversion. End result, the car drives straight at highway speeds at lower RPMs with better fuel economy and the engine oil stays in the engine. I have tried to reduce the interior temperature by insulating the floors, tunnel, and exhaust system. Everything on the car works, right down to the clock in the tachometer. When I bought the car in 2014 I ran a compression check and all cylinders were strong. Oil pressure at 70 degrees C is 60 PSI at 1100 RPM and 80 PSI at 3200 RPM. (see photos) Winter project if the car doesn"t sell? I rebuilt the wheel cylinders and changed over to silicone brake fluid when I bought the car in 2014. Even though the car is all drum brakes, I believe it could stop better. I"ll probably take a good look at the brake shoe lining material and possibly install new wheel cylinders. Please don"t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions. The car is also for sale locally and this listing will be removed when sold. Thanks you for looking.
