Vehicle description

Old age and decreasing health force the sale of my Cadillac collection. I bought this car in 2012 from a gentleman in Los Alamos, Ca. at $ 85,000.00. Contrary to my expectations the car was in doubtful condition and, consequently, was thoroughly restored in 2012/2013. The body was taken off and the chassis was disassembled and bead blasted to show necessary repair areas of which were many. Engine and transmission were overhauled with all new parts as was the rest of the car. Paint, chrome, interior, brakes, front axle, roof etc. etc. - all new at the time. The car stands like new even now after the time since the restoration. This is what the car has cost me: The buying price plus escrow, freight and bank fees was € 69.163,17 Parts, chrome shop, upholstry, farmed out work etc. was € 33.619,22 Two years of work € 0,00
Total € 102.782,39 This is the Euro sum. Converted to $$ it would be $ 113,269,21 This Cadillac was built in 1940, it is a model 1940 -7567 2-door convertible. It is truly a gigantic car for a two seater, 141" wheelbase! . According to Walter M.P. McCall"s book "80 years of Cadillac/LaSalle", only 30 of these high priced cars were manufactured in 1940, of which few have survived. A very rare car! Body number is 23 out of the 30 manufactured. This one is the only one in Germany. There is a bench seat in the front and two folding seats in the rear. This is a most elegant, very large convertible that attracts awe and admiration everywhere. The body color is a light beige and the leather seats and door panels are green leather. The instrument panel was painted burled walnut by a local paint brusher to fit the wooden door panel tops. The car had the 1941 trim strips on all fenders which I liked and put back on after the restoration. It also sported 1941? skirts which I didn"t like and left off, but will include in the sale as well as the spare tire covers. The fender wells were rusted and I liked the looks of the car much better without fender mounts so they were closed. The intact spare tire covers (even with key) will go with the car. There are also several spares that will also be included along with a shop manual, an owner"s manual and whatever else I can find.
Lots of restoration pictures are available at: http:/ www.hilmarschneider.de/cadillac-1940-7567.html This is my old website that hasn"t been cared for in a long time, so you might have difficulties opening and closing pictures.
The car can be inspected in Berlin, Germany.
The car is registered and can be driven at wish. It will only be sold prepaid or against cash but without German license plates and the registration papers.
There is, of course, no warranty for an 80 years old automobile. The buyer will be responsible for shipping arrangements and I"ll be glad to help, including driving the car to the Bremerhaven port of export. If interested, please email me for further information and pictures at [email protected]
