1987 Buick Grand National
T-Roof car ! !
Only 52,813 miles (81,251 Kms).
This car was parked away inside a barn for 25 years!
An actual - actual barn find. They still exist. After the original owner had passed away, his 2 sons placed the car in the barn. There it had sat for 2-1/2 decades.
We had acquired the car because I was specifically searching for a Grand National with T-Roofs. I placed paid ads and one of the sons called. We have spent the last 3 years selling off most of our collection but I decided I really wanted an uber cool 80’s car. We"ve slimmed down by over 20 (see feedback), so I felt entitled to get one that really has significance to me. Since we had a couple iconic older Buicks remaining, that we’re still keeping (including a ’70 GSX), what better choice for an 80’s car than an ’87 GN with T-Roofs (can’t be a stereotypically perfect 80’s car without T-Roofs!). No sooner than I spoke for this one, another "had-to-have" came up. Now one has to go.
This GN was carefully and properly re-awoken from it’s decades long slumber.
It was done professionally by a tech that has literally full walls of awards in his showroom. All systems were properly pre-lubed and steps taken. A brand new fuel tank was ordered, battery put in, fuel lines were replaced, injectors cleaned, and a new fuel pump installed. All proper procedures were taken, plus some.
After the car was running, it went to a detail shop.
This is where the car was clay-bar’d, and multi-stage polished back to a super deep and dark black. The interior was relatively clean and tidy but was shampooed and detailed nicely anyhow to be nice and fresh.
A few test miles were put on the car, and strong as it was, I felt it could benefit a small amount more by being thoroughly tuned. As they say, the devil’s in the details. And, that’s where it is right now.
New plug wires were ordered, mass air flow sensor, and couple other items. Also, some hoses and vacuum lines were replaced with new. The oil was changed twice already (once before start-up, and once right after), and it will be changed once more now to ensure a proper and ultra thorough flush-&-clean through. It will have been scope analyzed and checked through the rpm range on an exhaust gas analyzer.
By the time the car sells on Sunday, it will have had all systems gone through. The GN will be ready to go to it’s new home .
General condition:
The car is in very nice shape for it’s age overall. It is not brand new perfection though, obviously…. It was on the road, effectively for 9 years. (Consider, most 1987"s have been used +/- 34 years). There is some obvious usage visible in the form of paint chips, blemishes, and such, that you would reasonably expect. The body is generally quite decent and there’s no visible rust. This car is quite solid. Interior is in decent shape with the exception of 2 things…. The factory radio was stolen, and the driver’s seat has a seam and some stiching splits. That said, I have the missing radio trim. Also, there’s a loose trim piece above the glove compartment that should be re-adhered. Finally, so I don’t forget to mention…. The car will need a new trunk lock. This got tampered with same time the radio was stolen. Keep in mind, while others were being used, this car was hidden away from all elements (even UV rays!) in a virtual time-warp. The mileage is relatively low in perspective to most others, and it the car looks very respectable.
This GN has been professionally evaluated and insured for $35,000.
Rules of sale:

Kindly keep in mind that I do not know this car intimately, and have not owned it for a long time to have established ultra familiarity. I clearly cannot vouch for it with absolute certainty, BUT. . As you can see by our efforts, WE HAVE TAKEN SOME REAL LENGTHY STRIDES TO BE SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT AND PREPARED. Never trust someone who tells you how perfect their car is unless they are a professional mechanic. I’m not one. That’s why I had it professionally gone over, to sell honestly . Please read our feedback; it should be an excellent indicator.
And with everything else said. .
Here"s your unreserved "87 Buick GRAND NATIONAL, Low mileage, with T-Roofs.
Highest bid wins . . Simple as that.
We do not have a price in mind; hence the unreserved auction. If you want to make an offer though, we"ll certainly be open and receptive.
Good luck and happy bidding!
