Vehicle description
You are looking at a 1955 Mercury that had its original engine removed, and replaced with a healthy 390 cubic inch big-block V8 & transmission from a 1965 Mercury Marauder, giving it a whole new personality! It’s neat that the engine valve-covers still read Mercury (I like when people keep it brand-specific). The rear axle is also positraction/limited-slip, and definitely lays 2 patches of rubber when the go-pedal is stomped down. This car may look like a grandpa-mobile, but is no slouch… it’s a real sleeper! The original interior is still in nice condition. A couple of flat-panes are cracked on the sides, but windshield/back window are all good as far as curved glass. It’s wearing most of its original paint. Has a bit of a noise in the rear shock absorbers that needs to be addressed… not bouncy though. The heater-core is not connected to the engine, but I wouldn’t assume this car would be driven much in the salty Winter months anyway. It would be easy enough to hook it up, but the previous owner who installed this engine didn’t do so. The car idles quietly. Has brand new exhaust with dual straight-pipes, and certainly runs loud ‘n proud when revved up, though. No mufflers. It roasts the tires. Can"t wipe the grin off my face every time I drive it!
