Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is pleased to offer this elegant 1965 Ford Thunderbird 2-Door Hardtop for sale on consignment with our Arizona showroom, located in North Phoenix. This vehicle falls into the fourth generation of Ford"s “personal luxury" cars that was produced from 1964-1966. There were a couple changes for "65 from "64 models including the ‘Thunderbird" script on the hood being replaced by an emblem, addition of sequential turn signals and standard front disc brakes. The T-Bird in 1965 started competing with Ford"s blockbuster hit Mustang, which did affect sales numbers slightly but by no means meant this car was any less desirable. This Thunderbird is painted in White and its hard not to fall for the beautiful, aerodynamic lines and shimmering chrome everywhere you look. The 60"s was an era of excess that"s for sure! You don"t get a puny powerplant either; the 390 CID V8 engine that the seller claims is “numbers matching" (unverified by Gateway Classic Cars) was also rebuilt around 1,500 miles ago. The 390 motor was rated at 300hp and 427lb ft of torque for 1965 according to online literature. A 3-speed automatic transmission came standard with this car and offers column shift operation. Interior design at Ford wanted to emphasize and delineate the positions of the driver and the passenger on these luxury 2-door Thunderbirds, which meant eliminating the glove box for a more curved look. The beautifully preserved Red vinyl is complimented by a full instrument cluster with horizontal speedometer needle. Meanwhile, convenience options like an AM radio, power seat, power windows and heater controls are just some of the things to enjoy on this classic Thunderbird. The mid-"60s Thunderbirds are really starting to get noticed by both collectors and enthusiasts alike. [ omitted ]. [ omitted ]. Vehicle Description Vehicle Original VIN : 5Y83Z130448
