Vehicle description
Volkswagen Beetle - Classic. 1965 convertible. Runs great.
Just about everything on the car is rebuilt, repaired or replaces except for the top and transmission. Rebuilt engine with new oil rings, valve seats, seals, and bearings. Less than 25 miles on the new engine. New air exchangers, pipes, cables. The pan is rust free - new pan bottoms welded in. New brakes, brake lines, All new body seals and side window seals and wipers. New clutch and pressure plate. All new linkage to transmission and gas pedal. All new wiring harness. New professional paint job. Authentic German Blaupunkt radio. Original car probably had over 100k miles - odometer was disconnected when I bought it. It is reconnected now and currently says 96,341
The fabric of the convertible top is in excellent condition but looks like it was installed poorly (gaps showing on both sides). Bonnet and decklid fit ok but not perfect. The original windshield washer bottle with connection to spare tire is missing. There are better after market electric windshield washer pumps available.
There is a small hole in the metal at top of driver"s door (see picture).
The air cleaner is vintage 1965 for a hardtop, not convertible. The correct air cleaner for a convertible has a downward sloping intake throat to allow room for the rain shield that attaches to the inside of the decklid. I include the rain shield that goes with the decklid, but it isn"t attached. You can buy an OEM air cleaner that is for a convertible or a dune buggy type air cleaner that doesn"t have the throat if you want to attach the rain shield.
I also include a tow bar that is custom made for the classic beetles if you want to tow the car. It takes a 2 inch hitch ball.
