Never smoked in.
Lots of extras: - skid plate - coolant heater for cold mornings - Nokian Hakkapeliita snow tires with decent tread on the car now (see pictures). This car is amazing in the snow! - original wheels with all season tires (poor tread) - fog lights - bluetooth - VW cargo area barrier (not pictured) - original cargo area cover (not pictured) - passed Boulder County, Colorado emissions 2/8/21

As you might expect, it has some electrical issues that I adapted to instead of fixing. Any or all can be fixed and none interfere with safe operation: - The key remotes only unlock the driver"s door - The turn signals and/or warning flashers randomly make clicking sounds - The moonroof sometimes opens on its own. My solution was to simply pull that fuse.
I"m not aware of any other problems at all. I"ve always had it serviced at local independent VW specialists. I have service records back to October 2012 and could probably dig up more. I"ve always kept up on scheduled maintenance.
