Vehicle description
Vehicle Details For sale is my 1987 Camaro IROC-Z28. I am the 2nd owner of this car and took possession of it about 7 years ago from the original owner who lived in the Nashville, TN., area. This car has been garage kept nearly all of its life. This car is an actual survivor and has not been restored or made into a resto-mod. The car remains all original with the exception of the tires, window tint and an updated stereo. The original 305 C.I. LB9 engine remains in the car and runs great. A few months back I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and ignition module and I am fairly certain that I replaced the actual components that were on the car from the factory 34 years ago. The car has its original TH700R4 automatic transmission and there are no issues or problems with the trans. The interior is gray cloth and is also as it came from the factory. Original seats, carpet and even the floormats are the same ones which came with the car. One addition I made to this car was to order a set of t-top sun shades. The sun shades were standard equipment for the Pontiac Trans-Am to fit between the t-top glass and the headliner. The sun shades are easily installed and removed and do not alter the functioning of the t-tops or doors. The original t-top bags remain in the trunk of the car. The dash is intact and has no cracks, and the console is also all intact with no broken parts or pieces. Even the arm rest is in great condition with no rips or tears. The stereo is a model from a late 90’s Chevrolet/GMC vehicle with a stereo and single disc CD player. The stereo has also been adapted with a Bluetooth feature. By using an AC-Delco stereo, I did not have to modify or cut the dash or any wires and everything is in place to return back to stock within a few minutes. As the car sits today, there are a little over 29,000 miles on the odometer and those are original miles to the car. This car has been a garage queen, taken out on sunny days and driven sparingly over the years. The tires have been replaced and are not the original Goodyear Gatorbacks. All of the current tires have good tread remaining and have a 2014 manufacturing date code on the sidewalls. The paint, graphics and decals are also original to the car from the factory in 1987. Unfortunately, the mid 80’s to early 90’s was not-so-good for the GM clear coating that was applied after paint. This car was among the many GM cars that the original clear coat bubbled and peeled away within a few years of being new. The original owner of the car had the clear coat wet sanded on the hood, roof, upper fenders and deck lid, then reapplied by an auto painting specialist using a superior commercial clear coat. The paint remains original and is what GM called “Flame Red,” which to me it appears to be a dark shade of red. There is a deep shine on the car and it looks great when washed and waxed. The car was also treated to a Ziebart undercoating by the selling dealership. The undercoating remains in place and was obviously well done to remain intact after 34 years. There is absolutely no rust on this car anywhere. In Sept. 2017, I entered this car in the F-Body Nationals in Memphis, TN., and the car took 1st place in the 3rd Generation F-Body car show. Some of the photos attached are of the car in 2017 with the trophy after the car show. The following link will also take you to the F-Body awards and recognitions page (https:/ fbodynationals.com/awards/). The car can also be seen in a few other photos found on the F-Body Nationals page (https:/ fbodynationals.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Giveaway-Winner2.jpg). I do not want to give everyone the impression that this car is flawless and showroom new. It is a great survivor with minimal wear. After 34 years, it does have some minor imperfections. There are some small dings and a few small chips and scratches on the body and paint. The original door seals do not seal as good as they did back in ’87, but they are still quite reasonable for the sunny Sunday afternoon drive on 2 lane backroads. Everything electrical works as it should: power doors, windows, trunk release, cruise control, wipers, lights (inside and outside) fan, heater and A/C. The A/C was changed over to R134A several years ago and it currently could use a recharge of freon. I have included a number of photos of the car from various angles. If there is a particular view or photo of something that you would like to get a better look at, please send an email/message and I will try to get a photo of what you would like to view on the car; jwest229(at)aol.com. These 3rd generation Camaros are becoming harder to find, especially cars that remain in great condition and have been cared for over the years. This particular IROC Z-28 is one of the few that has not been abused, driven hard, modified or destroyed, but it remains as it originally left the factory with those few exceptions that I had mentioned above.
