Vehicle description
2009 SubaruForester 2.5 X Premium with 171,000 miles and a very rare manual transmission.Comes with two roof racks (Kayaks and Skis), a front/rear camera system, andall-weather mats for front/rear/cargo. The general condition is great for itsage and mileage, additionally the engine has gone through a complete overhaul described below. Engine Rebuild After blowing a head gasket at 170,000 miles inOctober 2019, we bought a replacement vehicle to use as a car-pooling dailydriver. However, after a job loss in early 2020, it seemed as thoughcarpooling was no longer going to be an option which meant we would keep the Subaru as a second daily driver. A complete overhaul of theSubaru engine was performed (described below) with the intention of beingdurable enough to use as a daily driver. Over $5,000 in genuine Subaru Partswere used, with certified OCD behavior such as buying two complete head boltsets and two premiums head gaskets, to find the combination with the highestquality and lowest manufacturing error. The engine rebuild was completed by myhusband (Engineer, PhD) and a Seattle automotive machine shop (Action MachineInc). Core retained parts included the original crank shaft and cylinder bore(block), which were re-polished measured/documented to be within new enginespecs (down to 1/10,000 in). New Pistons, Rods, Rings, Bearings were used inaddition to new cylinder head castings. The heads were rebuilt by ActionMachine while my husband performed final assembly; around $1,000 was spent onmachining parts. As a final test, we drove the car from Seattle to San Jose andall went well! Great car, we just don"t have a need for it any longer.
