Vehicle description

Offered for sale is my 1937 Packard 120, which is a gorgeousrust-free car in excellent operational condition with no damage history. ThisPackard has been loved, lightly used, and very well cared for and serviced overthe past 84 years, having spent much of its life in the Napa Valley area of CA.The exterior paint is old-fashioned lacquer that you can’t buy anymore, hand finishedand buffed, with deep, mirror-like luster (check out the amazing depth offinish on the fenders, trunk, and hood), showing only a couple of light chipsaround a few panel edges and one small rear fender scratch (pictured). The upholstery is beautiful period-correctwool and corduroy with impeccable pinstriping. (Full disclaimer: I’ve taken several naps in the back seat. It’s that comfortable.) Factory accessories include the banjosteering wheel, the Goddess of Speed hood ornament, the clock, the interiorheater, the Packard script gas cap, and the classy trunk medallion (onlookersdrive me nuts by running their hand over it all the time). The operationalcomponents and systems are sound as a dollar (with the exception of the wipers, which tend to work when they feel like it—but why would you want to drive thisbeauty in the rain in the first place?). The engine was rebuilt by previousowner, with a general overhaul of bearings, rings, gaskets and generalvalvetrain service, new water pump, upgraded 8-blade composite fan fitted toensure cool running even on the hottest of days, the addition of driver-switchedelectric tank-mounted booster fuel pump, as well as a new numbered wiringharness from front to back, and new bias ply tires. You will receive theoriginal internal bearings for inspection, a water pump, spare hub cap, hoodservice brace, a spare tire, and a car cover. Recent services over the past year include a new battery, newcorrect reproduction gas tank, sending unit, front-end alignment, engine oilchange, coolant flush and refill, brake system flush and refill, and oil bathcleaned and serviced. Transmission and differential lubricants were checked andremain full with no leakage from any of the systems. The car is very reliableand starts easily in all seasons, thanks to the thermatic choke. When I got stuck in an endless drive-throughline at the bank not long ago, the car idled contentedly for 40 minutes andnever came close to overheating. How’sthat for Packard quality? I’m sure you will enjoy this car as much as we have and amselling it only because another car has come along for purchase, and my garagespace is limited.
