Vehicle description
Purchased by my parents new in 2004 in Florida and lived most its life in Atlanta Georgia. My parents purchased a new Prius and I bought this one and shipped to Santa Barbara, CA around 2016. I used it as a third car to drive 80 Miles a day, two times a week to my job in Ventura. Total mileage averages 12k per years which is very low.
The Good:
Newer shocks all around at 160k. Rides great. Transmission fluid changed at around 180k with factory Toyota fluid. It is supposed to be "lifetime" fluid but forums say to change it at least when it gets to 200k. Recent catalytic converter and oxygen sensor thanks to a thief that stole the original one. Parrot blue tooth hands free phone system that works through stereo like an OEM system. Works great. Windows tinted with high end 3m tint. Makes a huge difference temperature wise in these cars. .they are like green houses as there is so much glass. The real gem about this car is that it has had custom seat covers on the entire 17 years. The upholstery has almost never seen the light of day aside from when I remove the covers to clean. They are custom covers so they are a bit of a pain to remove but it"s worth it. Front seat cushion on driver"s side replaced at about 180 so it"s really comfortable. New 12v accessory battery. .not hybrid battery. .a few months ago. No smells of any kind inside, non smoker, non vaper, non air freshener guy. Has a trailer hitch. .no I did not tow anything. .used for a bike rack.
The not-so-good:
Lots of chips on the hood from the highway miles. .it"s normal for a car with this mileage but wanted to disclose. See picture Small dent/depression on back bumper. Scratches on lower front bumper and rear side that are not really noticeable unless you are up close. 4 inch crack on upper right windshield. It was glued and is not spreading. It"s been there about two years and I don"t even notice it.
This car is a solid commuter with the original hybrid battery. It has never given me a problem and runs and charges great. Went to a hybrid guy who says heat is what kills these things prematurely and I live in Santa Barbara so that probably has contributed to my problem free battery. He also said these things rarely go bad it"s usually a cell within the battery pack that goes and you just change that one cell and you are good to go. Again, not saying there is anything wrong with this hybrid battery. I would drive it across country and just made a trip to San Diego with no issues getting 47mpg.
I would keep this car but am moving across country and only taking two cars, this car was a luxury and I would keep it forever if I was not moving.
Again, you are bidding on a used vehicle with normal to below normal wear and tear for a car with 206k miles so please don"t bid if you are expecting a 3 year old used car. Your bid is a contract and is binding. .(I"ve had issues with a buyer in the past who treated his winning bid as a chance to come test drive the car.)
