Vehicle description
Available for auction is this Superformance 1965 Shelby MkIII Cobra replica finished in Metallic Blue with white racing stripes. Officially licensed by Shelby and General Motors, Superformance has become one of the most reputable builders of high-quality replica and continuation cars of the 1960s. Designated as chassis #3150, this Shelby Cobra replica was purchased new by the current owner in 2016 from Cobra Performance LTD, an authorized Superformance dealer based out of Pennsylvania. It features a Roush 427 S/R engine paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. Having been diligently maintained and kept in climate-controlled storage throughout its life, this Cobra replica is now being offered for auction by its original owner out of New Jersey with just over 20k miles showing on the odometer. This Cobra features fiberglass bodywork over a rectangular steel frame with tubular reinforcements, and comes finished in Metallic Blue with double white racing stripes. Exterior features include a hood scoop, a Tex side mirror, wind wings, black side-exit exhaust pipes, quick-jack bumperettes, and a chrome roll hoop behind the driver seat. Some common signs of road-going wear are present on the front end and rear fender flares, and the seller adds that the car has been painstakingly maintained and treated exclusively with 3M Imperial Hand Glaze. Detailed images can be found in the gallery. This Cobra rides on a set of 18” American Racing 427 Shelby Cobra two-piece wheels with gray centers, polished barrels, and knockoff hubs. These wheels come dressed in new Nitto NT-01 tires bearing approximately 500 miles of use. Inside, the cabin is appointed with black leather bucket seats and a wood-rimmed three-spoke AC steering wheel. The original oil pressure gauge has been replaced with an upgraded electronic unit as a preventative measure. The seller notes slight wear to the carpets and confirms all instrumentation and accessories to be fully functional. In 2016, this Cobra was fitted with a Roush Racing 427SR V8 crate engine along with a Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox by the professionals at Stuggart Racing. This powerplant features forged aluminum pistons, Aluminum CNC ported heads, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and an output of up to 511 HP and 527 lb.-ft of torque. Throughout their ownership, the seller has had many items either replaced or upgraded including the sway bars, shock tower mounts, ball joints, clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. A third polished aluminum master cylinder was added as well. The seller notes that all fluids along with the spark plugs, filters, and belts have been changed annually. This sale will include original documentation and accessories from Superformance along with a clean title. One of the most high-quality Cobra replicas on the road, this officially licensed Superformance roadster is just waiting to be driven and enjoyed by a new owner.
