Vehicle description
1968 Mustang convertible 302-4V (J code), C4 trans, power disc brakes, power steering, power top, factory air conditioning, tinted glass, floor console. BODY: This was a complete, running car when the prior owner disassembled it to replace the floors which were rusted due to wet carpet an to do a complete restoration. It was originally from Texas and is structurally in excellent condition. The torque boxes, rear frame rails, shock towers, long front frame rails, trunk floors and rockers are all very nice. There is no rust thru on the corners of the doors and the bottom seams are almost perfect. The doors shut nicely although the driver side will need new hinge pins (included). All the windows roll up and down freely. The power top works very smoothly. The fenders are in good shape but I did notice that there has been some fiberglass repair on the driver side headlight bucket which should still be usable. Even the battery box area is rust free. I don’t see any major accident repairs. The hood is not original to the car but is a rust free turn signal hood including the lights and wiring. The trunk lid has some rust in the underside lip but there are 2 more usable trunk lids included. The firewall and floors have been replaced. The firewall is welded in. The 1 piece floor has been fitted but is just screwed down. The rear fender aprons have been removed due to the hood hinge mounting nut areas being damaged (new ones included). The short front frame rails were also removed during the floor removal (new ones included). Both inner wheelhouses will need a patch where they meet the replaced floor. Will probably need rear lower quarters and trunk drop-offs. Has the usual rust spots where the fender aprons overlap. All the stainless around the windshield is in very good condition. It has 2 grilles and 2 sets of grille surrounds. ENGINE/TRANS: The engine was rebuilt 10-12 years ago but was never run. I squirted some Marvin’s Mystery oil in the cylinders and let it soak for a few days. I was able to turn it freely so it should be OK. It has the correctC8ZF-D carb and spacer. The heads, intake and block all have the same casting date of 8D23 (April 24 th ). The block has the partial VIN stamped in it which is somewhat rare for a small block. The distributor is a C8ZF-D with a date of 804. The distributor is missing the guts but there are 2 more distributors for parts. All the brackets, vacuum trees and pulleys are present. The transmission is very dirty and will probably need to be rebuilt. NEW PARTS BODY: Firewall, 1 piece floor, inner and outer wheel houses, trunk floor drop-offs, rear fender aprons, 1 piece conv seat platform, conv reinforcement floor pans, short front frame rails, floor reinforcement, 1 piece export brace. SUSPENSION: Upper control arms, lower control arms, front springs and insulators, spring perches, shocks, heavy duty sway bar and poly mounting kit, rear leaf springs and shackles. BRAKES: Rotors, calipers, drums, shoes and mounting kit, wheel cylinders. STEERING: Borgenson power steering gear box, pump, lines in original packaging ($1000 value). Inner and outer tie rods, adjusting sleeves, draglink, idler arm, pitman arm. MISSING PARTS: The parts that I know are missing: under dash and engine feed wiring harnesses, front stone guard, front and rear valances. There are probably some other small parts also. NOTE : There is no suspension or steering on the car. I have a straight axle on the front to facilitate loading. I have a clear Ohio title. The VIN numbers on the title, door tag, fender aprons, buck tag and engine all match. I have described this car to the best of my ability. Ask any questions you may have before bidding. I have many other pictures available on request. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. The car is being sold as is, where is, with no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied. Buyer is responsible for pickup. I can help with loading. $500 nonrefundable deposit due within 24 hours of auction end, balance due within 7 days.
