Up for sale is my 2005 Mazda Rx-8 Shinka Edition. It is one of 513 made with the 4 port engine and 4 speed automatic transmission. I purchase this from my Father-in-law in April of this year because I sold my Porsche and was waiting for my 2020 C8 Corvette to be delivered. I needed a car to drive and he was getting ready to trade the RX-8 on a new Mustang. The year long wait is now over and my C8 Corvette will be delivered to me on Friday 10/23! I need to make room in the garage and so the Mazda needs to find a new and loving home.
My Father-in-law (mechanical engineer) was the third owner and purchased the RX-8 from Byers Mazda January of 2011. He bought it to drive from Ohio to FL for the winter months. It has always been garage kept and enthusiast owned. At 58,692 miles, the engine was having a problem starting when warm. Mazda diagnosed it as a engine failure and a new engine was installed from Mazda. Currently there is only 22K miles on this engine! It has always been warmed up before driving and premixed using Idemitsu Racing premix. Oil changes done on time with correct weight oil and lots of preventive maintenance (see the list below). I would love to keep the car but I have six other cars and need the room! This would make a great daily driver, weekend cruiser, or show car.
The Shinka edition was only made from 2005-2006. This car has the 197hp motor with the 4 speed automatic transmission. The Shinka models also had 18 inch wheels, revised suspension, and revised suspension crossmember. The best part of this model is the exclusive Black Cherry Metallic paint. It really stands out with the parchment leather interior.

Exterior: Paint is in great shape for the age with a few scratches and dings but nothing major. Still shines like new. No rust. Two wheels have some curb rash on the lip. Has tinted taillights and side markers.
Interior: Awesome shape. Leather shows no cracks or tears. Leather is soft and still smells great. Minimal wear inside. Has 15% tinted windows.
Electrical: Everything works. A/C is ice cold. All power options work. Has the lifetime XM radio option. Xenon headlights work 100%. Heated seats work 100%. Bose stereo sounds great.
Mechanical: Engine sounds great, starts great, and has no leaks or abnormal noises. Transmission shifts great and paddle shifters/auto-stick option work great. Exhaust has a deep growl with no drone.
Suspension: Still handles amazing without squeaks or rattles. Very great ride quality.
Overall a very nice car that served its purpose. I drove it in the 100 degree FL summer and the A/C was ice cold and engine temp stayed cool. As you can see from above, some good $$ spent on maintenance and upgrades.
