Vehicle description
After many years - I am selling my brother"s beloved 1968 VW Squareback Type III sport wagen. We have had this VW in the family for over 6 years now and have fully enjoyed it but with a new baby, we need to re-home the VW.
We did a ton of work on her within the past few months and hate to see her go but it"s time here"s the breakdown:
Interior -
The seats are in amazing shape with very little little visible wear - the springs are all solid and are quite comfy. The gauges are all intact with the gas gauge and clock not currently working as expected. The dash pad is now an un-cracked. There is complete carpet throughout the entire vehicle and 90% of it is in great shape aside form the visible wear in the front area. The car is very quiet on the inside and inside the cabin when driving. Pretty much everything inside is stock or NOS aside from an 80s period correct radio. The headliner is intact with only showing wear and tear here and there. The windows all work as they should (some with a bit more help than others).
Motor -
The engine was just gone through by a local classic VW shop. We had the carb rebuilt, top end motor rebuilt, value adjustment, seats and more. She doesn"t leak oil much or anything odd. Someone years ago installed an electric fuel pump that works flawlessly. We had a ton of rubber lines replaced as well as fuel cleaned out. The local gas selection sucks here so I"ve been trying to find ethanol free gas to help her run cleaner. She starts up immediately every time and after being warmed up she runs dead straight - I recently had her up to 75mph on the highway with zero issues.
Body -
Her body looks great from 20 feet - the previous owner painted her the two tone colors but her original Granada Red can be seen under the front trunk hood. The floors are pretty good with obvious areas that have rust and at some point could be replaced but we have been driving her with no issues all these years. I have no idea what"s under the paint but a show car is not what we bought her for. The body has 52 years of bumps and dings and scratches and such. There is 90% of the stock trim included - not very easy to find stuff so we have what was loose in the rear compartment.
Brakes/Suspension -
The brakes are all brand new and stop on a dime. What was bad was replaced and what was good was cleaned and adjusted. I had new tie rod ends installed last year as well. She turns smooth and stops straight.
Please ask any and all questions PRIOR to bidding - this is a great daily driver and by no means is it a $20k trailer queen car - I am not any kind of mechanic nor am I a body guy, if there are particulars you"d like to hear/see more, buy all means please ask and I will respond ASAP.
Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR! ! !
