This is a cool old classic that you can have fun in today! It is a rare (one of 3,499 made) 1965 AMC Ambassador 990 Convertible that runs great and everybody loves. It is just a fun car that is turnkey and ready to go. It has approximately 25,000 miles on the remanufactured AMC 327 cubic inch V-8 that has plenty of power. Three speed automatic transmission. It has been upgraded with power four wheel disc brakes, quicker ratio power steering, 100 amp alternator, and bigger sway bars that make it handle very well for an older model car. You get the performance and fun of a similar Nova or Mustang for a third of the price. It sounds awesome through a custom Ed Hanson exhaust.
The body is very solid and straight. The floorboards and trunk pan are excellent. The doors shut easily with that nice thud that only good old cars have. There are minor rust bubbles on the lower rear quarter panels. Nothing big that needs to be addressed immediately but they are there. The paint is at least 40 years old and faded. It look better in the pictures than in person but still turns heads wherever you take it. It has chips and scratches. It is perfect for a fun daily driver, great weekend Beach Cruiser, or just for Ice Cream runs with the kids BUT IT IS NOT A SHOW CAR! The bumpers are in nice condition. Bucket seats with center console and factory floor shifter. Custom upholstery that has no rips but could use a good steam cleaning. The top is in good condition with no rips but the plastic rear window is fogged up from age. The electric power top motor runs but I believe it needs some hydraulic fluid added to work properly. It goes up and down fine manually. Cragar SS wheels with good raised white letter tires.
All in all this is just a solid, fun, and classic Southern California convertible at an affordable price. Current 2022 tags with clean, clear California title in hand.
