Vehicle description

Rare (less than 250 of this year RHD were built) 1959 Daimler SP250 sports car. I have owned it for 20 years. Parked it to work on later, still busy with my other cars including other Daimlers. This is a very early model and VIN is assigned but not the original. Been in garage all the time. Came out of Wisconsin near Elkhart Lake. Could have raced there. Could be Chassis 1-5 , I don"t know. It is rare!
The Marquee-Mark Donahue won his first race in a Daimler SP 250. Duncan Black (Black & Decker heir) brought 1st Daimler victory in 1960 American Amateurs National Championship. Daimlers have been featured at Goodwood,UK Event -see www.Daimlersp250dartownersclub.com
These were used as Police cars in England for pursuit cars.
How do I know it"s rare? It is an a early model-look under door handle, only early ones had this notched out. Only 2652 cars were built in 6 years, evenly divided between RHD and LHD. In 1959 less than 250 RHD were built. Also doors did open I would take corners fast as described in early 1959 and 60 Auto magazines. Was unique to the very early A"SPEC" models.
It has a 260 C.I.D. Ford V8 engine with a 4 speed that has replaced the 2.5L Hemi V8.
Hasn"t been started in 15 years, lights, wiper and blower all worked this weekend. Engine will turn over but I did not crank it as I was just adding starting fluid to carburetor. Mileage is unknown but this could be accurate. As IS! Buyer is responsible for pick up and shipping. Cashier Checks or Paypal only. Paid within 3 days of auction ending.
