Vehicle description
2002 WRX
Project, non-running.
Body has some rust in rear fenders (see pictures, more on request), typical for a mid-west car. 50% or greater treadlife Potenza tires mounted on OEM alloy wheels (one is steel), full set of steel wheels with mounted snow tires (80% treadlife). Factory leather interior is in excellent shape except one small tear in drivers side bolster. Headliner sagging. Some door dings. No dash cracks. Recent window tint, not pictured.
I drove this car for a couple of years, until a timing pulley shattered (timing belt didn’t break) and engine stopped likely due to valve/piston interference. The car had 184,xxx miles at that time, and very well maintained until then. A/C blew cold (would need a recharge now due to engine out).
I bought a JDM AVCS motor which was supposed to have low miles. I installed the motor including AVCS wiring kit (iwire) and JDM ECU so that the USDM car could utilize JDM AVCS. I also installed a larger turbo (TD04HL vs TD04H) and a brand new turbo back stainless steel Invidia exhaust system. Perrin silicone turbo inlet pipe, cold air intake, and STI pink injectors for higher flow. Aluminum Mishimoto radiator. Car also has a JDM 5-speed transmission with 4.44 final drive ratio, which was installed using new hardware, new clutch, new slave cylinder, and new throwout bearing and short shift kit. Lots of new parts, seals, etc, including timing belt and associated kit. Drove the car for 1.5 months until a tuning appointment to remap for modifications. The car failed on the dyno which was likely a bad main bearing in the used JDM motor I installed. Cranks but won"t start. Subaru sells (brand new) long block for this car for $2100. For 2100 investment this car would be over 300 hp with quick short ratio gearing. Thousands of dollars in receipts.
Clean Illinois title. Was told that previous owner had difficulty registering the car in Wisconsin, which indicated a salvage or other issue, but the car is registered and passed smog last year before engine problems, and I have not had any indication of a problem with the title. VIN is provided so you can investigate on your own.
