Vehicle description
Private sale. For sale by owner.
1964 Chevrolet Malibu SS.
Spectacular, beautiful, and remarkably well built. Show, GO, or both ! !
Super consistent. 10.2"s at 3,500 ft. 9"s altitude adjusted. 9.2"s NOS. 8"s at sea level.
Custom 540 Scott Shafiroff Racing engine. Dart heads, Dart block. 860hp @ 6300 rpm on pump gas.
Easily managed, well tempered car. Incredible consistency with little effort. No glitches, 100% reliable as it gets - Turn the key, move the shifter into gear, and push the happy pedal. No nonsense, no aggravating down time or constant "adjustments". Ready to use any time. (Depending on your altitude, it may have to be re-jetted to run optimally). Runs cool and easily street driven to cruise night. Highway drives tight and smooth. Light-To-Light and on slow cruises, it runs calm and cool, without a hiccup. IT IS EASY TO FORGET WHAT A SERIOUS MACHINE THIS IS.
4-linked and suspension is dialed in and set up perfectly. Rear squats way down, front raises right up, and goes laser straight. No wild leans, no surprise scary moments. Can be used consistently to it"s full potential under a variety of conditions with confidence. Hit the throttle and she"ll accelerate faster than your mind can compensate.
This is an outstanding, very HIGH QUALITY car ! !
Way WAY too many remarkable highlights to list Turbo 400 with safety blanket and trans brake, Bottle warmers, Stretched rear wheel openings Endless list. Upwards of 120k invested.
Reportedly 5,000 mile original , 1-family owned car before modified.
No official documentation or provenance. Unanimously agreed by every appraiser and professional as highly-likely accurate mileage, based upon close examination of many small tell-tale factors. New Mickey Thompson street tires. New windshield just installed this past summer to replace ORIGINAL. Only due to some age related blurring, disintegration of internal tempering (affected vision at dusk/sunset). Car is NOT a full restoration. Retains almost all it"s better-than-repro 5,000 mile original GM parts/pieces/components.
And without a never-ending list, that"s about all the information I can think of. It"s an amazing car. Best of all. . We decided to put it unreserved. So there ya go. . Go on the Summit site and order some race shoes, suit, helmet, and knock off some epic track runs, OR toss on a t-shirt after work and climb in with your wife to take it for a cruise and burger. You can"t brand it as one thing. It"s a race car, it"s a easy cruise driver, it"s a show-"n-shine ride, it"s a pride and joy vintage classic. . it"s flexible. One label that always fits is THRILLING.
Details etc. Car is antique status. Needs no special papers. Exempt of any export/import restriction. Title perfectly transferrable.
No other photos. Car has been routinely insurance assessed at $80,000 +. Feel free to send a professional appraiser. If they give reason to not buy the car, I"ll pay for the evaluation ! ! I don"t think many sellers will make a confidence offer like this. This car speaks for itself. Outstanding condition.
Car must be paid for within 72 hours of end of auction, unless previous arrangements made before end of auction.
We have sold off 30+ cars. Please see our feedback! I have lost my enthusiasm for our collecting / restoring / racing. We were going to keep the Malibu at least for the occasional adrenaline rush, but mostly as garage art. It"s a gorgeous piece! The sound the big Shafiroff makes through the full stainless steel exhaust and flowmaster mufflers is INCREDIBLE.
During our sell-off, my wife has gotten pretty darn good at setting up shipping and taking care of everything. She"ll do the same for this car. Delivery to most US states is in the 1,500 to 1,750 range. Further destinations, like Florida and Texas, are in the 2,250 range.
PLEASE SEE OUR OTHER AUCTION for my elderly parents old LOW MILEAGE 1995 SUBURBAN, unused in years.
