EXTERIOR
The silhouette of this 993 is pure Motorsport nirvana. An almost exclusive use of carbon has shifted the design and weight dramatically – producing an evolutionary masterpiece that immediately identifies as racer for the road.
Presenting in its original colour of solid black the bodywork is all business with a deep shine and consistent luster throughout.
Carbon composite RSR arch extensions, bonnet, front and rear bumpers, GT2 engine lid & rear wing optimise the slender narrow body shape with additional mesh covered grilles acting two-fold; releasing pressure from the front wheel wells and concealing additional oil coolers in the rear bumper.
INTERIOR
Stripped to a bare minimum the Motorsport theme continues throughout the cabin – focused on pure performance function via Recaro bucket seats, Schroth harnesses and a factory MOMO for Porsche wheel. Considering the lack of insulation, the interior space still presents particularly well given access to the cabin with door cards, sills and door cage inserts thankfully free of unsightly marks or scrapes. A full Matter roll cage creates a wholly authentic Motorsport aesthetic.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Having completed its record breaking feat, this 993 would be subsequently sold to a gentleman that opted for a slightly different engine specification to suit his sprint / track requirements. SHK subsequently installed an alternative engine to provide a more tractable experience with a flatter torque curve and wider power band.
With 530hp and 1,320kgs the car still remains incredibly approachable despite the considerable power-to-weight ratio; an elastic power train from 2k rpms all the way to redline.
Although the transmission system began life in an 993 Turbo; ratios were specifically selected for the demanding Nordschleife. SHK modified the front differential to give zero lock under load and 60% under braking. The rear differential provides 40/60 locking with a strengthened centre viscous coupling; essentially the the same drivetrain developed by SHK for long-distance racing.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Cargraphic were chosen as one of the original partners of this project by SHK boss Harry Wieshaupt, so it is apt that these 3-piece 9.0J and 11.0J wheels survive to finish off a wonderful motorsport tribute.
Considering the huge weight loss programme, original 993 Turbo calipers and discs were considered more than adequate in hauling the car down from serious speeds.
HISTORY FILE
This genuine Porsche 993 RS Clubsport was built in November of 1995 and was first registered by Porsche Centre Cologne on the 29.11.1995; ordered and owned by two brothers they had the car prepared by SHK Motorsport for endurance racing at the Nurburgring.
The brothers then sold the car to the boss of SHK Motorsport – Harry Wieshaupt – who wanted to build a car capable of beating the Nordschleife road-car lap record. It was Wieshaupt who had the idea of installing AWD and a Turbo engine as well as composite panels throughout.
Once the record was broken the car was then sold on to a Mr Stoscheck of Brose Car parts. SHK would go on to replace the engine with something more suitable to Mr Stoscheck’s needs as confirmed by their current and engineer at the time; Klaus Doerbecker.
The car would spend time in Stuttgart, the Netherlands and back to Germany once again with specialist – Thomas Schmitz – before sale and arrival into the UK in 2014.
Serviced and Health checked by OPC Reading in 2015, the car would go on to be looked after by specialists Fearnsport and more recently by Heritage Autowerks – the UK’s official Singer agent. Please note correct VIN is WP0ZZZ99ZTS390789. Car was built for German market but is now 25 years old and eligible for import to the US.
